Hi all.

When I started up emule today, I received the following error message:

"No server list address entry in 'address.dat" found. Please post a valid server list address into this file in order to auto-update your server list."

Would someone please walk me through this procedure as this is the first time this has happened to me.

I suspect this error was caused by me trying out a new anti spyware program called True Sword, which I have since removed off my PC.

Regards :(

Do you still see the servers list and if so do they still work?

About True Sword:
True Sword, securitystronghold.com
ridiculous, false positives, works as goad to purchase
(In other words: crap!)

Stick with Ad-aware(Lavasoft), spybot S&D, Ewido, Microsoft antispyware.

Hi guys.

Thanks for your quick reply.

To answer: Yes the servers are visible and they appear to be working.

I have all 3 connections , eD2K Network, eD2KServer and Kad Network. The 'web interface' is not enabled.

'niclights', I have gone to the site you suggested and clicked to add to eMule and got the download window momentarily.

All appears to be working, except I still get the same masseage and along with that the eMule splash screen will not go away until I drag the error message from behinh and splash screen and then click it off, the splash screen then goes away and all appears O.K.

I agree with you SirPeter about True Sword. I had Ghost.exe copied to another folder as I was doing some work with it and it identifed this file as a hi-jacker. That was enough for me to dump it but by then the above damge was done.

I need to know exactly what it is that I have to cut/copy and paste.

I think I have found the location to where I have to paste it once I know what to paste and where to get it from.

Regards

The reason that the message still appears is that you have set the eMule option to automatically update your server list at eMule startup. But you do not have a link to a server list in the file addresses.dat.

Two ways out of this:

* In Options > Server, disable the "Auto-update server list at startup". You can still update your server list manually at any time using the server list at gruk.org.
* Add a valid link to the file addresses.dat. To do that, go to Options > Server. Next to the "Auto-update server list at startup" option there's a button labeled "List...". Click on it. It will open Notepad. Copy and paste a valid link to a server list into Notepad and then save. For instance, you can use this link: http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

Hi Stoepsel.

You hit the nail on the head so to speak :+1:

I decided to untick the auto update before reading your reply and I no longer got the error message.

But after reading your post I copied your suggested link and pasted it, I then re-activated the auto up date and sure enough, all appears to be working O.K.

I will progressively now add update links to that auto list now that i know what I am required to paste here.

Regards

PS. Is that a photo of you in the icon?
