If you have a low ID go to the site linked below for help on port forwarding on your particular router. DO SO BEFORE MAKING A NEW THREAD!

http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Sometimes the problem is that the ISP (your Internet Service Provider) block the default TCP and UDP ports that Emule uses !!

In this case, first choose new port numbers. You can try any other port above 5,000, but lower than 50,000 for the TCP and UDP

Then, in Emule, go to Preferences, Connections, and change the TCP and UDP port numbers.
After this, open this ports in your firewall software (if you are using one), and make a port forward in your ADSL router (if you use one)
(if you uses Windows XP, take also a look at the network connections, to the firewall of your Lan Connection.

After doing all above, in Emule click on servers, and take a look to the screen in the bottom right side - the ID must say "HIGH ID"

Having an High ID, if the downloads continues slow, the cause may be:
-you are using Kazaa and Kazaa it´s using all the link bandwith
-other options - what options ??

Ok, i went onto portforward.com and made the new ports, still wont give a me a high ID, then the other bit about,

"After this, open this ports in your firewall software (if you are using one), and make a port forward in your ADSL router (if you use one)
(if you uses Windows XP, take also a look at the network connections, to the firewall of your Lan Connection."

this is all very confusing to me, can you help me out by making it a bit simpler?

thanks

- im using an Origo router, and im on the end of a wirelss network too, if that helps -

This is not the thread to be asking about your low ID problems. Start a new thread instead.
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

Hello, first thank you for your explanations. I've made all the necessary changes about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine and yesterday emule changed by itself to low ID, why? Thanks for your help.

I went to that port forward site, and followed the directions, until, "You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router" I get a red page saying only, "401 Unauthorized
Authorization required."
Any ideas as to what to do now, or where to go to find help? Thank you.

If you look at any (sub)forum on the board, you might notice the word "Sticky" prefacing certain conversation threads. This is to denote that the thread in question has been promoted to a permanent position at the top of that forum. As such, they are usually there solely for instructional or informational purposes. Any questions about their content should be started in another related thread. HTH.

It didn't work for me...I got stuck simply because I had no idea what my DNS server is...and I couldn't even access my router webpage...the password and username sure as hell didn't work.
