Links to sites containing server.met files often change and this is why there will be few links in this post. Emule's documentation on server.met files which can be found here offers some different links for these files. Othervise use google to search for "server.met" files.

Regarding links to server.met file there are basically two different kinds. One is the direct link when you click on the link you will be asked where to save the file and the other one is a none direct link to a html page where there is a link to the server.met files. There are some different ways of updating your server.met file. Choose the one you feel most comfortable with:
  • On eMule's server button tab there is a place where it says "Update server.met from URL". In the text box you put a direct link to a server.met file and click the "Update" button. A server.met file is now added to your eMule.

  • You can find a direct link to a server.met file and download it. The downloaded file has to be placed in eMule's config folder which is often located at C:\Program Files\eMule\Config\. When you are asked to overwrite the existing file you answer yes and your server.met file is now updated.

  • This possibility is only valid if you have enabled that eMule can take ED2K links. This is done in eMule's settings -> General and in the buttom of the box. If the "ED2K links" is grayed out eMule is enabled to take ED2K links.
    Click on a none direct link and click the "Add to Emule" link and your server.met file is updated.

  • The last option is not generally recommended since it causes heavy load on servers but the option to use it exists.
    Open eMule's settings -> Server and click the "list" button. This opens the adresses.dat file located in eMule's config folder. Insert a direct link to a server.met file in the text area, save it and close it. Remember to click "Auto update server list on start" and shut down eMule's settings. Everytime you start your eMule from now on a completely new server.met file will be downloaded for you.

Thanks birk, that is solved.
And about this:
When i connect any server listed the message is always the same:
"server seems to be dead or inanimated!
Something like that. Abd that happened since i upgraded version 42g (Itried already other versions, and so i created the firsy problem)

Greetings

Many servers will tell you they are dead if you try to connect and have a Low ID. Maybe that is your problem... :)

Try and manually overwrite the server.met file with a new one. If it doesn't work try a fresh install. :)

I am rather new to eMule. Can someone please shortly explain, how do I find the server . met files .. I mean where.. and on what basisi should I diffirintiate between good ones and bad ones ... if here is such a thing. Also when I add a new .met either thorugh addreses.dat or through the "Update server .met from URL" does my curent server list gets replaced ... or does it just add new servers to my existing list? Please clear it up for me ... I am having a hard time making a decision :).

Use the link posted in the thread (http://ed2k.2x4u.de/index.html). Choose any and new servers will be added. :)

Thanks :). I have another question ... so say I have 97 servers listed ... that means I can share back and forth only with people conected to those 97 servers ... right? ... and if i want to share with more people.. i need to get more servers? Also what is the actuall diference(es) bwtween being conected to one server over another?

...some info here that i've found while using emule regarding server lists and the staticservers.dat file.

When i've corrupted the server.met in some way i've been able to recreate a new one from the contents of the staticservers.dat. If the existing staticservers.dat contains servers then removing the server.met and restarting emule will recreate the server.met with those servers.

Additionally, servers can be added to the (text) file, staticservers.dat.

entrys:
194.0.0.0:4661,0,Server X

format: <ip>:<port>,<priority>,<server name>

priority:
normal = 0
high = 1
low = 2

The staticservers.dat also needs to end with a carriage return, else funny results seem to occur when adding subsequent servers within emule which can also result, again, in a corrupt server.met.

I use eMule to open them... ;)

servet.met files are in a binary format, so it would be best to open them in some form of Hex Editor. But what good would that do? What do you hope to see in the file?
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

Even though I have absolutely no idea, why you picked this thread to ask your question since it has nothing to do with server.met files and where to get them, but have a look at this post anyway:

If the problem started when you installed 47a, make sure you have instructed your firewall to allow the new installation internet access. If you still have problems start a new topic in support (after reading this, of course ;) )
Are we nearly there yet?

Owww, yeah... :clap: ...I had a goog luck...Thanks God and also "tijnenzo user"...it was easy and simple.
As suggested by "tijnenzo", I´ve just delete "server.met" from the diretory "/eMule/config" and copy there the file "server.met" I´ve downloaded from the http://corpo.free.fr/server.met.

The response 'server is full/dead' indicates a problem with your configuration - almost certainly firewall and/or router. If you need further help pls post a new thread in the main support forum.
