So, yes, let's end the discussion here as this will never be removed.

can the ratio can be a global ratio ?
contrary of a session ratio !
Maybe it can help few people to use eMule without downloading to balance the gloab ratio !
Bye
[edit: i don't know if i explain well ... )

You're crazy Firnus , session ratio is the best thing in ZZUL !
Of course, people who don't understand ZZUL philosophia can't understand this.
If people don't want session, it's very simple : they don't use ZZUL code. No one is obliged to use it ! Of course, wihout a session ratio, some changes are forbidden in mods.
Yes 1:3 is quite restrictive. But a 1:4 session ratio in official would be a real improvment in fact. The real point is not to improve performance of users who dowload fast, but to improve the speed for people who have poor performance. Quite more usefull.

But why not a global ratio: just to push common user to do upload session !
(maybe it was discuss a long time, sorry if i made a mistake, but if it discuus on another topic , could you give the link of the topic)
I never bloqued due to session ratio .... just for testing sometimes, i try but it's very difficult .....

my Mod uses ZZul ratio, with wich I happily agree with, and there's two experiences I want to share:
1) ratio per UL-session, makes computer-/Mule crashing even suck more.
like my Mule ran for days and uploaded gigs and bam! I'm on ratio.
I know that this is not really a reason to change anything - I'm responsible for my computer not crashing. but there's other reasons to start/end sessions: new Mule, new Mod, some setting-changes only apply after restart ....
2) I share ADSL (128k up) with my roommates, and we've come to timeshift,
more or less every week, the next one get's the bandwidth up.
now when I hand over the line/upload, and I have some downloads with only few MB missing,
I let my Mule continue with 1kB up and 3kB down, but due to sessionbased ratio it's unlimited down
,which would work for days. calculate it: 3 GB upped at 11.5 kB/s, now only 1kB/s up - how long does it take to get under 10kB/s average. and there seems to be tolerance, it doesn't stop immediately when reaching 9.99kB/s up-average. I never had to let it run any longer - everything important finished.
(well, I don't let it run at unlimited, since that would for sure interfere with my buddy having more than 10kB/s UL)
To make it clear: official Mule does not behave that way, if my buddy (officialclient) sets UL-limit lower than 10kB/s the DL-limit get's restricted to limit immediately.
Quote
maybe some "bonus-points" for gigs uploaded with ratio better than 1:1 ?
could be edited/abused, I suspect.
bye, coluche
edit : sorry, I confused my mods changed morph/Zz-ratio combination with Zz-ratio itself

This ratio implementation doesn't care about average upload speed or anything but "bytes transferred up" compared to "bytes transferred down". As long as the ratio between those two are OK you can download unrestricted. When you hit the ratio, your download will be restricted no matter what upload speed you have (average or current).

And what about mods that save client queue status?
Though for a global ratio, I would restric that to 1:2.

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

It's FAIRER that way and it allows the usage of otherwise "illegal" features.

EDIT: Though you know my cumulative UL/DL is 1:1.40 so this isnt whats causing it??
Question, is it from the first first time youve started the program or just that session??? Thanks
EDIT: oops, 3 Xs what I upload as a max value isnt that bad, I never really pass that much anyway but lately its been super fast. But I havent downloaded anywhere near 3 times as much as my upload for this to happen.

That means you can get more than 100KB/s with your current upload speed.
Sure you have not done something wrong, like having restarted eMule too many times in a too short period so that you now are temporarly banned by your sources?

EDIT: Nice mod but it puts you at a disadvantage with this feature. I max out my upload at 38 n find my self at the 1:3 ratio in no time. Thats why I have all those stupid 0s, this mod is telling everyone nope, no ty, I dont need your dl, WTF?!!? I upload all I can but id like my crap to finish 1 of these years. If everyone had this then I guess it would be "better" but im not gonna say go ahead and upload that chunk to the next person.
Would be nice if this was optional. Now everyones gonna go no no no, you suck. lol, yea well I bet you smart bastards prabably modded this mod so you dont have this feature. If you could youd be dumb not to.
