Is this a valid video file? The filename ends in dvbrip.ws.xvid-lister.avi and another similiar one is dvbrip.ws.xvid-lister.ogm. or dvdrip.ws.xvid-lister.avi
Thanks

"dvbrip.ws.xvid-lister.avi" is not the file extantion, "avi" is it. And avi is of course a video file. ogm is also an avi, but it uses the ogg vorbis audio codec.

It's a codec, like MP3 or AC3. Once you installed the codec, you can use it practically everywhere.

You can get it here: http://www.vorbis.com

I downloaded a RAR archive of 4 files, which appear to be CloneCD files, as I have the CUE, SUB, and IMG. However instead of a CCD I have a CDM. I opened it in Editpad (a text editor) and it is ascii text like (someone) said. Should I simply change it to CCD or is there a good reason it is CDM?

This is what FileExt.com has to say (although it's nothing helpful).

I have never used CloneCD before, either.

I have never had any luck with Videolan. I use AVI Preview, which came with the Kazaa Lite K++ distribution. You can get it by itself; I don't have the url handy, but it can be googled.

I googled a bit about CDM, but found nothing.

Try mounting the image, using the cue and see if it works. You can also try changing the CDM to CCD, mount it and see what happens. If you are satisfied, you can burn it. :)

Mounting the image using the cue? I don't have Daemon Tools installed, and coulnd't see how to do that using CloneCD. I opened the .img file with WinISO and it showed me the contents. I'm going to save it as .iso and try that; ISO is a format I can work with.

CUE and CCD are just ascii text for settings; ISO does not need them, but what about the ~30MB SUB file. That's gotta have some content of value, right?

I have always been able to preview with VideoLan, I recommend it too.

Nero's image is NRG.

I've a problem there, maybe you (or someone else) can help. How do I jump to any location while playing? I can move the slider to any location I want, but as soon as I took the finger off the left mouse botton, the slider jumps back to the current possition. I've tried it while playing or while stopped, but it never works.

@Dark Reality:

If you extract the content, or convert it to a plain ISO, you don't need the SUB anymore. The SUB-file contains the subchannel informations, which are (sometimes) needed for an exact 1:1 copy, means it holds additional data for the copyright protection. But since you don't download somethings illegal, it's just redundant information.

Thanks. I got it to work by opening the IMG file in WinISO (or maybe I opened the CUE and it pointed to the IMG?) but either way I got an ISO and it worked!

@Sir - I don't think you can use the slider if you're previewing. If you're using Videolan on a completed video file, I don't know what to tell you. Videolan hates me.

im going to leave the file extension up there so that people can google for it, but here is why the link is dead:

After exactly two years of beeing online, the gates are now closed. I simply do not have the time anymore to really care about the site, I am sure you already noticed this.
Now it is once again time to thank all the people I got to know in these two years. People who have helped me when I had questions, my Ops in IRC, people who have visited this site again and again, and so on... Thank You!!
I don't really want to write more... Let's all hope the best for MPC! And maybe we'll see us again... ;)

so i guess just google for it.

I would like someone's opinion; I have an mpg file which hasn't played in winamp, BSplayer, or media player, and wasn't recognised by gspot (well the render failed...). Are there tools to check MPEG data for corruption, or codec packs i can try? I havn't been succesful so far in finding anything helpful =/
