Incorrect configuration issues are never resolved with reinstalls and new versions.
Please read Docs and Support forum for a solution or start a topic there.

Hi, a few months ago I noticed that in EMULE 0.60d I have slow downloads and I download only a few files at a time up to a maximum of 14. I tried reinstalling to the older veryi 0.50a but it didn't help. So I tried beta 0.70a and I'm still downloading max 14 files at a time but the speed has increased and I was downloading at 5MB/s. Do you know why this is or how to find out what causes it? I haven't changed anything in the system since it slowed down. I have tried with another provider but no change. I was hoping this new version would fix it :-(.

Post your configuration file and speed test results here

QICKV8, the issue is not beta-specific. So please proceed with your technical help session in Support forum.

Dark04,
sorry, but eMule is developed for Windows and nothing much is done to ensure smooth running under Wine.
Version 0.70 is using a peculiar type of disk I/O; there is a possibility that implementation in Wine has flaws.
Also your configuration is unknown.
Should you create a crash dump as explained here, or by using Windows utilities, I would try to understand where it fails. To deliver dump, please use file sharing services or cloud storage; link could be given here or in PM.

Edit.
There is bugzilla at bugs.winehq.org. You may try to search for bugs in Wine for eMule, and the most recent one is 54548.
If it is the same issue as yours then it should be fixed in Wine.

I know that emulating Emule with Wine could cause issues btw same Wine version but different eMule give me some troubles. eMule 0.50a worked fine for months, I decided to update to eMule 0.70a as it should freeze less and give more performance (dl/up). On eMule 0.70a after some hours (or 1 day) it crash, nothing on eMule 0.50a

Settings:
Max DL = 10mb/s
Max UP = 2mb/s
Max Sources/File = 300
Max Connections = 300

IpFilter = upd.emule-security.org/ipfilter.zip

Max new connections / 5 secs = 9
Max half-open connections = 9
File buffer size: 1.50mb
Queue Size: 3000

I used emule 0.70a.7 for some days and It keeps crashing after a while without errors + freezing sometimes. I'm emulating it with wine on Linux (yeah emulating, aMule is too shit for Linux) and eMule 0.50 worked fine.

Hi Dark04, I am using emule on wine as well. As said by Fox88, there is a bug opened regarding the new wine stable version and emule. It could be useful to understand if your emule started crashing due to the update to 0,70 or due to the automatic update of your distro at wine 8.x (try to test now emule 0,50 and see it crashes with the updated wine version).
I am still testing, but it seems that in my case crashes occur if I leave emule in an open windows, while if I keep it running minimized it works as expected.
FYI my system is ubuntu 23.04,gnome(X.org session) and wine 8.02.
Anyway it would be better to discuss within wine forum discussion hxxxx//forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=139813&hilit=emule#p139813 and/or within bugzilla discussion hxxxx://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54548
Please continue your tests, I will do the same, providing log and any usefull information. Using eMule in linux is a must for me and I think for you as well, so we will do our best to let devs fix the compatibility ;)

I'm using the last Wine Dev version (8.17?). Seems not crashing rnow, i will notice.

In Windows, if true connectin capacity was at least 100 down/20 up Mbit/s then these settings should be good and even conservative. Even more so if there are no huge numbers of shared files and/or downloads.
Bug reports in bugzilla give no clear indication if the crashes are related to graphics or networking implementation in Wine.
