My trusty old XP has run its course, I have a new computer running Win10 set up except for eMule. I've tried copying the old program folder (version 0.50a) as is, but for some reason I it starts up with default setting. I edited the folder paths in "preferences.ini" to "Program Files (x86)" but that had no effect. Both share and temp folders are on a different drive as before, paths are identical. Any ideas what is wrong?

You might have to copy your preference folder to another location and change the respective setting in the advanced preferences, as the program folder isn't writable by default on Windows versions newer than XP.

Not quite but you were on to something, namely that writing in Program Files is a problem. I solved it by skipping installation and Windows completely; just copied the old EMULE-folder to c:\temp, edited paths in .ini-files, and it works like a charm.
