@Soul--Reaver,

I just updated the binary (same url as before), with recent improvements on download bandwidth throttler (with a specific download limit mostly). I wonder if the network will perform better with higher limit than 10240 KB/s as you tested earlier.

And the file cache system also has slight adjustment which could further reduce disk i/o stress.

@Enig123

The test results did not noticeably differ from the previous results. I would really like a version which i can run for a longer period of time for better testing. This would require a drop-in replacement for the current 0.60b version.

PMed you about the latest version. There is a parameter that can further reduce disk i/o effectively, but it's with the price of more memory use which I am not so sure it's the path I would like it to be.

But I can prepare a build with adjusted parameter for your testings, just let me know if you're interested.

After extensive testing i feel that the cache in the Enig123 build does little to fix high download speed issues.
Yes its better then the official and community version but it only looks at itself. It does not account for other programs using the storage.
So that means getting back to my original request. Please allow eMule to use the windows cache for all read and writes. Based on experiments with qBittorrent it decreases disk load by a lot.

Any detailed technical info on how qBitorrent is handling disk I/O?

Be aware though, bitorrent is different from ed2k by a lot, even as we know how qBittorrent is doing, does not mean that eMule can achieve the same effects on disk I/O.

Of course its different. Qbittorrent is build on libtorrent.
But i've set up qbittorrent to disable its own "Disk cache" and only use Windows OS caching. Which means all reads and writes are cached by windows. eMule has a mix of cached and uncached reads and writes. Hence this topic.
I will try the new build.
