A maintenance release 0.60d has been published in Github.

It features minor fixes and improvements.

The link is in the topmost post.
Can we now draw a line under the 60 series as reasonably stable, and move to the 70 series for reasons discussed with MorphXT interoperatibility being foremost?
Will it break anything to do so?Will it cause grief?

Thirded

(Thanks for the work Fox. It's definitely working better in Wine and Win10)

Hello!

Is there any possibility that you add to the options display tab a way to increase font size for searches, transfers, servers and the options itself?

Weak sight is an issue here ...

Thanks in advance!

Hi!
Unfortunately, these changes are non-trivial, and Options dialog is particularly tricky because it relies on fixed sizes.
It might be done some day, but hardly in a very near future.
Until then, please use Windows' display scaling capability or Magnifier application.

Fox what do you think about kmule?
Why not develop a version based on it?

Kmule is not working at all on my win 10 home 64...maybe is too old...the last update is 2016...
no way to change language..test ports..and even to connecting to kad...

On my win 10 prof 64 works...
I thought that a emule kad only version will be a good idea (there are few good servers now)

With most eMule clients you can choose to just use the KAD network :flowers:

but i repeat in my case

i repeat that

Error: Encountered Improper Argument when starting, stopping, canceling, or mostly interacting with corrupt files. These files were generally files that failed to decompress properly. It seems that the way that part files are handled upon completion may be cause for issue. The program does not verify that the file was properly decompressed and transferred from the temp to the complete folder before attempting to remove its data. When it does so, it does so partially resulting in a blank file name and partial data which causes the program to partially crash upon attempting to interact with it. This would also be a likely vector of attack.
What's more, the program has a few nested for and while statements that are incomplete which handle the emule server connection. While connecting, it places the entire program into that for/while loop until the connections are completed. This takes SEVERAL minutes to complete and could be fixed by parallelizing code and (possibly) fixing the incomplete brackets. While the incomplete brackets are not required for compilation, I imagine that they would be helpful in assisting the preprocessor in optimizing code for vectorization before compiling.
Also, I know this has likely been brought up before, but the code really needs to be optimized for multiple cores. This would allow it to handle transfers on one core while handling connections on another, and hashing on another, decompression on another, etc. As it stands, just connecting to an emule server results in the program maxing out a single core to just 1/x of the processor's capability for several minutes while holding up the rest of the program. While this doesn't result in the entire system crashing, it makes for a very annoying experience using emule.

What version of eMule you are using and where from you have downloaded it?

v0.60d from the emule-project website. It was a similar issue with v0.60c. I believe the issue comes from the order in which it handles tasks associated with completing downloads. There are a few corrupt met files likely from various application crashes which resulted in a complete system crash with the earlier version. If it let it run for too long, it would eventually just freeze everything to the point that even the keyboard wouldn't respond. It hasn't been an issue since version d came out, but it can't handle the corrupt met files well enough to even remove them from the list. If I try to tell it to stop or cancel, it claims to be an invalid arguement error and crashes the file list portion of the application while the rest of it works flawlessly. I can even exit the application and start my downloads again until it hits the blank file names.
But I definitely want to stress how emule server connection needs to be optimized to not bring the entire application to a screeching halt for 5 minutes until it's done. Have you spotted the incomplete for loop brackets that I mentioned previously? I'm fairly sure that the nested loops could be optimized better.

Such incomplete loop simply would not compile.

Have you seen this topic?

Also your eMule settings might be incorrect; and something should be done with corrupt .met files (repair or import, for example).

From that topic, simply because something is not dynamically linked doesn't mean that it doesn't have the code included within the program itself. If anything, it would make it more difficult to diagnose and debug the actual issue because it's the whole program. Also, as for the loop, such a loop would actually compile because it's not absolutely required to be closed. It's more-so just so that the pre-compiler would be able to recognize it properly and for good practice that it should be done. In this case, the first iteration of for doesn't require the brackets. It's really just a statement at that point. Once further statements are made within it, it becomes a compound statement and those other statements need to be (and are) quarantined off from the original. So, while it would compile, the lack of those brackets may make it difficult for optimizations to be completed that otherwise may.
I'm not sure how I would repair the met files lest I use a separate program entirely. Does eMule include a repair function somewhere that I'm not familiar with?

As for the source of the error itself, it's highly likely that the error is caused by the attempt to read the temporary file (null) to determine if a preview is possible. Hence why it would only check during specific instances and not during startup of the program itself.

Plug and Play isn't entirely the best method to use for port forwarding. It would need to be enabled in your router and your firewall and there's no guarantee that it would even work correctly then. Your best bet would be manually forwarding the ports or setting your router and firewall to allow all used by the emule program.
