Installed the new version of emule and found all my old current info was lost, like current downloads. I went back and installed the earlier version but everything is gone...any recovery possible?

Yes, you probably installed emule (and its config directory) in a new folder.
You have to retrieve the older config directory and move all its files in the new config directory (without the preferences.ini), with emule closed.

The older config directory could be in:
- c:\program files\emule\config
- c:\program files (x86)\emule\config
- C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\AppData\Local\eMule\Config
- C:\ProgramData\eMule\Config
INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I had a similar situation when I accidentally deleted program files, including from the trash can. Then I used the Uneraser program to restore them.

Um, restore from latest backup? You DO have backups, don't you?
