Hi, I am currently sharing a little over 10,000 file and today something odd happened.

My files are fairly small but I also offer then as a package - about 5Gb for Version 3 and 7GB for the new version 4. Thing is today (a sunday) somebody downloaded the version 4. The 4th customer I think, so I decided to check how many copies are visable. None. Which includes my own copy. There is one copy of the version 3 visable on Kad but nothing at all Global.

So What happened? Both were visable on Global before.

And it gets worse. I have checked the small files and most are gone too. Whats left may well be copies already downloaded to other computers.

Could it be a weekend overload or could there be a file number limit?

Ok. Panic is over, but the puzzle remains. My File is back on Both Kad and Global. Uploads of small files had stopped but are now slowly returning.

My theory is that a server crashed. There has been enough upload to sugest it is re-uploading the data. (do you call that re-uploading the hash tags?)

servers have a soft file limit and a hard file limit.
(all so very long ago, but iirc./maybe soft file limit: will not publish more of your files than that. hard file limit: will not let you connect if exceeded.)

Kademlia: will publish about your files one after the other. I forget the number of files max. published per minute (or hour), but for 10.000 it may take ... errm, days?
This is fine when your emule is connected 24/7, resp has only very short offtimes. But for an emule that is online only ... say: daytime, and off on nighttime -> then most of your files will not be known about.
