Colleagues, I have used eMule for a decade or more, including on windows 10 during the last year. Yesterday I noticed after a reboot that eMule would not load/run. I have reinstalled/repaired the app, but no luck. I have not done the formal "uninstall.exe" process yet. I have not rebooted in awhile, although microsoft remotely reboots after some updates. I am suspecting the windows update, as I have made no substantive system changes otherwise. Most recent Windows Updates are described as:
2017-05 Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3150513) installed 5/16/17
2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4019472) installed 5/10/17
Has anyone else had such a problem? Any suggestions on how to resolve?
Thank you,
Mangobiker in what's left of California

Move or rename config directory, then try to start eMule.
If it starts, then some of the configuration files got broken.

Thank you for this suggestion. It did not help.
I ran the "uninstall.exe" and then re-installed and that got me running again.
Thanks for reminding me of the \config folder, however. I will use that data with my new install.
Kind regards,
Mangobiker

Have you tried running it in Win 7 compatibility mode?

I have just gone through an extensive Windows 10 Update, and I have the exact same problem. I try to start E-Mule, and nothing happens. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the problem persists. Under "Task Manager / Background Processes," "E-Mule" briefly appears when I try to open the program, but then it disappears, and there is no message -- error or otherwise.
Appreciate any suggestions/

Never mind.
Yet ANOTHER restart, followed by another uninstall / reinstall cycle, and of course re-entering all of my various preferences and settings, seems to have solved the problem. Started up and connecting with High ID again!
