Hello. For a change I'm not here asking for help, but I almost was, because after several days of trying everything I could to get High ID on Windows 8, without being able to access router settings, I was just able to do it, and want to share my story because I read threads of people over the Internet stuck in Low ID because they weren't able to find a solution. So this is here in hopes that it helps people with a similar problem.

Symptoms:

- Everything was working fine in a previous OS (say, Windows XP), but when upgrading to Windows 7 or higher, you can only get Low ID.

- You are unable to access your router's admin page, so you can't do Port Forwarding there.

Solution Requirements:

- eMule Morph XT Mod (or another that allows Upnp)

- A computer that has an old OS that worked (say, Windows XP - This may not be necessary if you know a way to modify the following configuration from Windows 7+, but I didn't know where)

So you can't forward ports because you can't access the router's admin page. You let Morph XT do it for you:

1. Open eMule Morph XT.

2. Go to Options > Connection.

3. Set TCP port to 55551 and UDP port to 55552 (or use some other random numbers in the range 5####.)

4. Tick "Enable UPnP to Setup Ports", and click OK.

5. Restart eMule Morph XT.

OPTIONAL 5a. Go to Options > Mod Options > EmulEspaņa > Reconnect on lowID Retries. Change the value to 0 or you may be unable to connect at all.

6. Wait 30 seconds (the idea is to give enough time to eMule to forward the ports, 5 seconds will suffice), and click connect.

7. Take a look at the Upnp status at the bottom of the "My Info panel", it should say it has set up the ports.

Now, you're supposed to get High ID, but I wasn't able to do it. Why? Apparently eMule is Port Forwarding to the wrong IP. It's Port Forwarding to my Default Gateway IP instead of to my computer's IP, and that's the first reason for getting Low ID.

8. Hit the Windows Key and type cmd (or go to Run and type cmd - the idea is to bring up a command prompt.)

9. On the black box with text that appears, type "ipconfig" (without quotes.)

10. Look for a line that includes "IPv4", at its right there'll be 4 numbers (like 192.168.x.y) - this is the IP you want the ports to be forwarded to.

11. Turn on the machine with the OS that works (in this example Windows XP) and connect it to the router via LAN.

12. Go to > Start > My Network Places. Go to your connections. There, you should see on the right your Network Adapter and below it your Internet Connection.

13. Right-click your Internet connection and click Properties.

14. Go to the second Tab and click Configure.

This gives you access to Port Forwarding configuration without having to access your router's admin page!

15. You'll see 3 entries with the name Emule in them, a UDP, a TCP and another UDP one. Click on them and Configure them. Change their IP (the Default Gateway one) for your IP (the IPv4 one).

16. Back on eMule, untick "Enable UPnP to Setup Ports" (on Options > Connections), click OK, and close eMule (you can turn off the PC with the OS that worked now.)

You have successfully forwarded your ports without accessing your router settings! So you should be able to get High ID now, right? Well, I didn't...

Apparently Windows 7+ Firewall is overzealous and there's no way to turn it off. That is, even after having it Disabled it'll still won't allow eMule to get High ID!

What you need to do is setting the Firewall ON, then add eMule as a trusted program.

OPTIONAL 16a: If you're not going to use eMule MorphXT, set the ports of the eMule you're going to use to the ones you configured in Morph. This one you'll be using will be selected on the steps below.

17. Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall.

OPTIONAL 17a. If there's lots of red, the firewall is off, click on "set it to recommended settings" so it'll be on.

18. At the left, click on the second option to allow an application to go though Windows Firewall.

19. Click on Change Configuration.

20. Click on "Allow another application..."

21. Choose the eMule you want to use. Click Okay.

22. Tick the Public Box at the right, so that both Private and Piblic are ticked. Click Okay.

23. Now fire up Emule and click connect...

24. ???

25. PROFIT!!!

26. You're now on High ID! Kad will appear Firewalled for a few minutes but then it'll appear as Open soon.

I hope this helps someone get High ID, because we all deserve it
