It is nearly impossible for KAD to have a downtime; so the problem must be on your end.
Check network settings (UDP in particular), reboot or power cycle your router if there are any.
<- this is hardly an answer. My KAD isn't working either. It always says:
Kad Network
Status: Connecting
I have ED2K running with a High ID. I'm running my network over wi-fi.
So how do I configure KAD to make it work? Please no magic solutions. Just explain how KAD is supposed to work, so we can test whether we have everything configured and also test whether the KAD network is even there.
EDIT: More detail. KAD works on one laptop but not the other.
Laptop 1 - OS= Win 10, Firewall = On, KAD works, eD2K = Low ID
Laptop 2 - OS= Win 10, Firewall = Off, KAD works, eD2K = High ID
I was going to say that KAD was broke on Laptop 2, but I noticed I has a VPN console running in my intray which I just closed. KAD is working since I closed it. This VPN was from an old company VPN which I'm no longer on, so it wasn't active. Either closing that inactive OpenVPN console down enabled KAD or it just enabled itself after about 20 minutes of not working. Grrr - I'll remove that program. Just goes to show -
never have more programs loaded than you absolutely need!
PS: Also - why the constraint against searching strings less than 4 characters? Today I wanted to do 2 separate forum searches for "KAD" and "VPN", respectively but could not.
