I don't need to change my ports, do I?

No, you don't have to change any of your settings. Just add the new server to your list.

  • Ex falso quodlibet ; Kad is the major concept behind emule.

This is why more focus should be on KAD. KAD doesn't care about servers. But it feels so broken and not much has been invested into it for years...

I don't think kad is broken. Actually it was and is a quite powerful concept (not only the DHT, but also the distributed search is great!).

Anyway one should work on it in a way that clients can publish and receive more load due to new fast connections (or at least a load proportional to the connection settings). Nonetheless the problem is still the same. If the bulk of the network keep using an old method/protocol, then one cannot break the compatibility in an easy way, otherwise in a p2p network he will be isolated.

Those design directions either have force behind them to break with the past, or are doomed to persist.

"Thank you for donations! 99$ has been collected to date. The server is leased and launched in test mode", eMule Security admin said.

Hi,

Just copy the TCP and UDP ports that e.mule gives you after installation and forward these ports in your router.
Another option is to just make e.mule use the ports that are already forwarded in your router.
Any of these two options will do.

UPnP is worth to try if it is enabled in the router.
