It seems that no matter what I do I can either get eMule to connect with High ID and Kad still connecting or Low ID and Kad connected but firewalled. I've tried everything that's been recommended.

Hi.
You need to set your firewall and your router (provided your ISP gives you a real public IP).
If you need help with that, provide the necessary information (modem router manufacturer and model, firewall used, antivirus used, how many machines are running emule, and so forth).

It may be my misunderstanding but to have High ID you have to be passing through the firewall. If that's the case then why can't I connect to the Kad network but I can when I have Low ID?

Maybe you should give thorough description of your configuration?

What would you like to know?
Usual things, as requested here.
I see a bunch of protection software. Have you tried to disable all of it?
Router's firewall should be off, if there is one.
I might suspect router's misbehaviour.

Back to my original question to have High ID I have to be passing through any protection without a problem.
