Hi,

I'm new here.

I use emule V0.50a and i already tried another versions, with same result:

After i add 10 or 15 files to download, the emule freezes and doesn't answer for 2 or 3 minutes. If i add many, 30 or 40, it usually freezes and stop answer many times, and keep doing it till most of the files are complete downloaded. The speed is good, but when it freezes, the speed is lower. Right now i'm downloading 50 files, with a average speed of 800 kb/s, but when it comes back from a freez, the speed crashes to 100 / 150 or less. But the worst of it, is when i'm adding files to download, because after i add 10 or 15 files, it starts freezing and i take many time to add all the others i want to add. It keeps freezing till almost all files are downloaded! I only have no problem if a have 3 or 4 files to download.

I use windows 7, very fast cable conection ( fiber 150mb ) and the emule always done good ( i use it since 2006 ), till some weeks ago, with no reason, it started doing this. I already uninstall and reinstall emule many times, tried other versions too, format the disk and reinstall windows 7 ( updated ultimate version ), review ports, well, i already did anything possible, but nothing worked. Do you have any idea why emule started to do this?

One extra information: utorrent do the same thing, so i thought it could be ports limitation, but it isn't.

Thank you

Thats a lot of files and I don't think your computer which is running the client can handle it. It may not peak in mem/proc usage but your using a lot of resource accessing the disk to r/w. Which is where you have the bottleneck. You may have 150mbps but that doesn't mean you can always hit it as it will depend on the physical IOPs which would be in this case write rate on the drive. What you want to do is for eMule/Torrent change the buffer size to larger block as it will cache in memory and once complete the chuck will be written on the disk thus reducing the rate. Torrent has very small chucks which is constituently being written and it is a problem with too many downloads on slow disk as its true for eMule or any other clients. Far as ~mule goes you can also change the buffer size make it max. I suggest you don't have too many downloads and at the sametime few downloads can also freeze your client if it exceeds the physical limitation of disk write rate, hopefully it make sense. You can look at the spec of the device.

Thank you for your help. I understand all the things you said, but i have a question:

- Why in last 10 years i always could add about 100 files to download at same time, without any freeze problem, and now i can't add more than 10, because it starts to freeze all time? Till 1 month ago, i could add the files i want, without any problem, but since may from now, the problems began. It isn't normal, bacause i never had this problem and i always add 100 or more files to download. Something changed, i dont know what. I already talked with the internet suplier, because i thought it could be them, but they refuse it.

Well your ISP can only sharp your traffic which won't actually freeze your computer. But you said you haven't had this problems few months ago as it suddenly started, so what have changed? did you do any software/hardware upgrade?
