Hello everyone, as the title said, what was your preferred mod in the last 3 months? Of course could be that it was "just" emule, or was the same mod of the last X years.

I would contribute saying 'for me it was my mod' (emule zzul tra tl) but i'm not active on it since the end of the 2012, so for now i just started to check what is the actual situation. As far as i understood emule development reached quite a maturity and things are quiet (1), so maybe also the mod selection has stabilized.

Happy holidays :) .

(1) with a pessimistic point of view it would be 'emule has ended', fortunately seems that everything works as before. The user base diminished after the introduction of torrent - well, not a surprise due to its design, we discussed this several times; plus it should be admitted that the torrent clients are ported everywhere, that is quite a boost - but then it seems stable since long time. I remember the same availability of certain files also 3 years ago. Sure ed2k seems not the most popular p2p protocol, but the important part is that it is used enough.

We discussed that torrent is more for server-like releases, while emule tries to be pure peer to peer. Even if some torrent clients are improving the possibilities lately.

What was the end of the specialmods forum? There i read for the first time about morph4u.

Design wise, kMule because it's 100% KAD Network focused. Though in general I somewhat prefer eMule Beba mod.

Go away and don't come back unless you finally understand how P2P filesharing actually works. Thanks and goodbye.

Tuxman the alst replies of yours that i read are very harsh, especially when talking about torrent. Why? Moreover how can someone understand a concept away from the community that teaches that concept?

He is even providing an entire ed2k server and he is also one of your country fellows.

I usually call bullshit bullshit. P2P means that you download from other users. The protocol does not change that, so the speed is unaffected.

Whoa, three lies in a row. Is this some sort of competition to you?

And why are you still here instead of annoying torrent boards? Go away and stay with the other liars.

pier44, well as I have said before I personally have never ran eMule let alone one of its mods. But I can see why it would be more appealing to people who would choose mods for legitimate reasons to better handle queue system, bandwidth and not for leeching reasons like AppleJuice and VeryCD, ect. we seen over the years.

hooligan, far as Torrent goes as we know it accounts for over 90% of all known P2P visible bandwidth, less than 30% global traffic compared to eDonkey which is below 3% in P2P footprint. Which was not always the case for eDonkey as we had millions of users which we lost as Torrent became more mainstream and cutting edge appealing to the mass, was actually social revolution. Due to the massive userbase comes shared quota which in turn speak for the higher bandwidth.

Tuxman, your attitude will drive users away from ED2K/KAD network. We need more pure users who uploads and release in our network and appeal more to new users. I mean you sitting there trying to debate hooligan who is the operator for Sharing Devil and shares more per month than you shared your entire eMule childish installation.

Keep in mind what Torrent is doing today is what ED2K was designed for but due to idiotic obsolete limit and standard with eMule as its the main client on the network mostly everything comes to crawling halt.

1) We have what 1million users? and 500k at any given time? out of that half is LowID if you look at it We need to educate the current users base to properly setup their client and be active and productive on our network. As vast majority which is sometimes half of usebase is LowID clients which is just drag on the network. You can see smaller network like GT1/GT2 with fractional of our userbase is more optimized and has higher bandwidth in general since its properly utilized.

2) Development need to continue. eMule is the de facto client for ED2K/KAD so it has to evolve and slowly migrate users from obsolete era of last decade and join current standard, thats another topic of its own. But other multi-network clients like mldonkey, Shareaza and new clients should be encouraged as its gateway into our network with new userbase.

3) Appeal to new users. As kids these days don't even know or ever heard of our network. They heard about it decade ago during aftermath of Napster era. We should have exclusive content via ED2K/KAD but since we are non-profit community that has its limit.

So share much as you can on our network, promote it by telling and educating others others, help others discover it. Bring more new users and keep the last actual P2P network alive.

MONA LISA!

but the way .. I was searching for someone who gives me advice to the best mod to use; actually I would like to solve LOW ID problems (that I cannot resolved even with the static ip and opened ports on vodafone station revolution in italy).

1. Is there a mod that can solve or bypass kad low id problems?
2. is there a mod that can limitate the great number of slot opened by the last one emule v0.50??
thanks, and smile!

You do understand why ed2k this has less users?

He will lose User because it makes their sharing of a very slow manner, based on credit and upload made in exchange of the user!

add:No ratio
add:Slotfocus
add:Send file completed

Even with queues, ed2k will supplant the fastest network ever Torrent when it comes to p2p.I have said

Best mod. Mephisto v2.2

Everyone who has slotfocus for me are good.

Do I understand why eDonkey (ED2K=KAD) has less users? I obviously do. Now the true question is do you? (rhetorical), lets find out. Now lets take few steps back for the moment in time and let me school you in history to refresh your long term memories.

sonoro, look at the when you joined this forum and compare it to now. Since then up until now with userbase of ED2K + KAD unique users combined do you think we grew our userbase or decreased it by 4/5th? We had more user on ED2K network alone BEFORE you joined eMule forum. In fact we had more users on ED2K network before KAD was implemented, which would be 2 years before you joined this forum. Do you understand the stages of evolution in P2P in terms of generations? or the fundamental aspect of File Sharing vs File Trading? How long have you been in P2P scene?

"He will lose User because it makes their sharing of a very slow manner, based on credit and upload made in exchange of the user!
"

That does not make any sense to me as i'm sure the message your trying to convery here was lost. But lets take step back into basic supply and demand. If the content was published (ED2K vs KAD publish rate is thread of its own) and then if there was demand for want only then it will be requested. Now the problem here is the content distribution method of delivery to utilize resource which is scarce. Now what are the resources? soft (QR, CS) and hard (bandwidth, time) limits over the force multiplier of additional source over duration of availabilities. Now I can write a freaking thesis with just basic concept excluding technical aspect of it and even then it will be pages of it, nor I want it nor I wish it as I don't have the time for it.

"Even with queues, ed2k will supplant the fastest network ever Torrent when it comes to p2p.I have said
"

Ill leave that alone as I truely think you don't have any understanding. What are your credentials in terms of computer programming, networking, hardware, OS for OSS-dev? Stop crying about Torrent as this is not ED2K vs Torrent thread.
