Dear all,

It's long time that i follow the development of emule becouse I lead a correlate project (https://sourceforge.net/projects/tvudownloader/) and, in the last year, we started to think to stop our project. For years,eMule project is an semiconscious status and now there's a lot of man hours to put inside (ex: lack support for new compilers and mkv file format). We know that there's a public Hg repository hosted by Source Forge but this platform is less collaborative instead of Git Hub or Bitbucket. From last year Source Forge offers to connect directly with GitHub.

I understand that when eMule born, the mod idea was a reasonable idea because same collaboration platforms were not available (aka SVN vs GIT), but now, all the most important projects are hosted in public hub.The most big companies (Microsoft , Apple and Google) already use Git Hub to hostimportant project.

Now, for Christmas gift , it's it possible to switch from sourceforge Hg hosting toGithub?

It's a sin to see this project go to the end when there's a lot of developers that want support it

Bestregards and good Christmas

The repository software isn't the limiting factor but manpower at this time. And processing patches and changes from everyone results in more work for now, because someone has to check those changes (which can sometimes take more time than writing them), verify and accept then. Or explain why they are rejected. Possible discuss whether or not this feature should be in.

I understand the issue about lack of manpower since BT rise,

but a place to easily submit minor patch for migration is why github grown to a such huge community,
you can take simple patch that only modified few lines of code in minutes,
sf.net are sucks for that,

there are so many minor patch never been taken by upstream which let me leave from any further dev for mod,

if I need a full fork to work alone, I can't handle all of that, merge sucks at that time,
if I trying to submit things on forum, it takes too much effort,

there are so many effort trying to fix core issue and never been pushed into upstream,

in my personal experience,

emule is notorious as it's not crash safe,
I do share thousands of files once,

if the program crash for some reason or unclean exit, it take days to recover,
and it's not scale well with that many file, always crash after few days,

those issue are still true at 0.50a
emule just stays on it's glory days, not moving forward to scale as the world,
and that's why I no longer share over emule,

just complaining.
