Hi all,

Since upgrading to Windows 10 I can often no longer minimise eMule; I have to restart it to get back to the Desktop.
Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks in advance, Matt.

If you used search, you'd know it was an old problem.
The problem was in the internal flag which quite often got stuck in incorrect state.
Possible fix was posted here quite a while ago, but never made it to official code.

Never had the Problem until Windows 10, so it's not old for me. I will search and see if solution works in Windows 10.

Just searched, nothing obvious, any idea roughly how long ago, or topic title? Thanks.

Several years ago.
The word code implied that recompilation of eMule was required.
Will you do that?

I was politely asking a simple question as a technical Newbie, even though I have been on this forum a long time, but I still understand the meaning of the word code. I am very sorry to have bothered you.
Since this is a public forum and I cannot block you; I would respectfully ask that you do not reply to this, or any other of my posts. Thank you.

Hi!
I can't see this problem on my side; windows 10 and emule 0.50b beta1.
If you are using the latest release (0.50a), you could try to overwrite it with the beta (emule must be closed before you upgrade it).

Check also the obvious: options, display, minimize to system tray should be ticked!
Or are you "talking" about "minimize to taskbar"?
INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

No it's not. Actually I just experienced the same under windows 10, that eMule won't minimize to tray anymore.

Not sure if windows 10 is prone to this issue more than previous windows version, but it did happen and a perfect fix would be most welcome.

djmattybigbig:

You might need to avoid minimization of eMule during automatic-switching of wallpapers of windows 10, or just set a fixed wallpaper, which may minimize the chance of getting into that kind of trouble.

Just as I wrote in the last post, you guys can set a fixed wallpaper and see if the issue will be gone.

I already have a fixed wallpaper so the bug is not related with that.

Never? I ran it on Windows 10 for a while and haven't seen this bug yet.

Yeah, when that happened, eMule wouldn't even minimize to the taskbar by clicking minimizing button.

I am having the same issue on Windows 10. However, the problem usually does not show up until I have started using other applications and sometimes it does not show up until much later. The minimize does work when I first start Windows 10 and then start eMule first. I do not think this is specifically an eMule issue; because I am having the same problem with one other application (DownThemAll - a FireFox addon). Because most applications are working OK, I am having trouble identifying (researching) this problem. I am replying here because I noticed that the original poster has not been given the suggestion that he (or she) may move the mouse to the lower right corner of the screen and click on "show desktop" to cause all applications to be minimized.

JackInTheBox, thank you.
If you search through internet you will find that the problem is shared between more than an application.

I have the same problem: Emule wont minimize in Win 10.
But i found a workaround! You have to make sure that some other program is already in the system tray. Given that, emule minimizes for sure.

Maybe emule is kind of shy and has fears about empty places?

Still happening even on eMule Version 0.51a beta 7 unless the "Options/Display/Minimize to system tray" is unticked.

Hi,

I write to report that the bug is still present in latest version (v0.60b x64), but I not experienced it in x86 versions.
I use Windows Server 2016 (with lastest patches).

I confirm the workaround of deselect the option "minimize to tray" works.
But after doing that, if I do that and click on "Apply" in options window the options window won't close if I click on OK button (I must click on X button).

I hope that in next versions this bug will be fixed.

EDIT: seems that the problem is fixed running Emule in Windows 7 compatibility mode (no admin right needed).
