Yes. And it's done automatically, and all the time, even when you don't close eMule, simply because eMule does not download files sequentially (from the beginning to the end).

You mean a vertical bar, to the right-hand side of the mule?

That just shows that you are downloading - the higher the bar, the faster the download! :+1:

ok

first thing thanks,
but I figured it out... it was not my firewall.. It turns out that I'm on a natted connection, so I guess I just have to live with a low ID.
Are there other p2p's that work with natted connections??

NAT = Network Address Translation, another word for Port Forwarding, usually in a table form.

natted = incorrect verb form.....

I have been using emule forawhile and have encountered a severe problem that I hope is easy to fix. After a download is finished it starts over and does not convert the file from a part file toa media file. What the heck happened? I hope I dont have a virus. I have never had any problems before.

Hi all,

I have a question... When I'm downloading a file, and I right click on the entry and click "File Details..." and go to the "FileName" tab, it often lists files under "Sources names", that are completely incongruous with what I am downloading.

For instance, if I'm downloading a movie file (.avi), it might list some source files as being a game file, or a document file. Initially I thought that it could either be that I'm getting a wrong file, or that those people have the wrong file. But when I see comments by those people saying that "...Very good game" :D or some such thing, it gets confusing, since most of the sources in the list will show it as what I'm downloading (A video file in this example).

Can anyone explain this ? Since every file has a unique Hash, how can someone who has a game file, transfer a video file to me ?

Thanks,

Cerebrus

You answered your own question without realising it. Every unique file has a unique hash. Therefore filenames are irrelevant. What you are downloading 'may' be the file you think you are downloading or may be one of the others listed.

Why people deliberately rename the files is another matter.. <_<

So, in other words, NicLights, one can't really trust the Filenames that are listed. But then what can you trust ? Speaking from your considerable experience, how do you decide if a large file that you are downloading is not really a fake ?

Thanks,

Cerebrus

From the manual:

Quote

How do I know that a file is a fake?
You can easily recognize fakes by looking at the found filenames. Right click on any download -> Show File Details -> File Name or middle mouse button opens a list of all found file names for a download. If the file names differ a lot or are contradicting it is probably a fake. Search results showing an explorer style + also have different file names found.
