Problematic Software List - known interferences with eMule (click)

From that topic, the conclusion is that firewalls, antiviruses and other programs were responsible for those problems.
Check programs listed into that topic first and think if you have recently installed new programs.
You can try uninstalling these suspected programs and reinstalling them one by one.

Thanks,
But, no new installation in the last few days.
Up until yesterday everything was fine and worked without a problem.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

Hi!

Have you checked the programs listed in the link (and in its following posts) ?
Symantec (Norton) is one of the first programs listed and known for being problematic (= gives problems if it isn't correctly set).
Other programs instead don't let even start emule... like netop or system mechanic (very intrusive).

o.k.
After reinstalling emule to a new directory but with the same incoming and Temp dir – still got nothing…
So I install a fresh copy to another dir – and voila….
So I deleted the Temp dir in the original emule – and again it worked.
So the problem was with one of my download file I guess.
Thanks.

This was a problem for me as well.

My first mistake was that I am stupid and when emule is running and there is a tiny tiny donkey icon in the lower right tray, emule won't start another instance. It simply looks like it doesn't start. You can check this in Windoze by looking at the active processes using task manager. If you see emule 32 there, then it's running. I have had times when emule was running but there was no donkey in the tray.

The second problem I had is outlined in another post which I can't find right now. Basically, if one of the config files is corrupt, Emule doesn't check the integrity of the config files, and the result is the GPF you may be experiencing. You can look at your application event log to see if emule is giving a 0xc0000005 GPF exception.

If it is, then move everything in your emule config file to another location. Leave the old emule config directory empty and start emule. If it starts, then you simply have to figure out which config file is corrupt. Copy them back into the config directory maybe 5 at a time, starting with the smallest first. In my case it was the larger files that were corrupt.

The emule config directory may be different for different OSes. For Vista, it is

c:\users\myusername\appdata\local\emule\config

A user named Skyler or something like this came up with this solution. The correct solution is to have some developer write at least a checksum on the config files to determine their integrity. A CRC would be more robust. A GPF is unacceptable.

In my case crash with error 0xc0000005 was after changing preferences to low values, MaxConnections to 100 and MaxSourcesPerFile to 10. Increasing them X5 healed program B)
