You can't. They are for Bittorrent clients.

This could have been a feature request.
One line from amule change log (version 2.2.1): Added support for magnet ed2k links.
Probably eMule can learn how to handle it too.

IIRC there's no way for that because the hashing systems are different, but I stay to be corrected. :angelnot:

AFAIR magnet links (files) can contain ed2k-links.
So it would just be a matter parsing...

As far as I understood, such parameter is optional

http://en.wikipedia....gnet_URI_scheme

Question is what to do with the other parameters..

And another question is, what to do if the Link does not contain ed2k param?
AFAIK windows does not allow multiple URL handlers for the same Link type so other applications couldnt use it then

Technically it does not contain ed2k link; but there could be useful parameters from the set:hash, AICH hash, file length and file name.

Like now eMule could ignore it. Why not? :)

This is of minor importance here; and there could be workarounds.

The point is that, if eMule registres for magnet Links, and the Link does not contain ed2k param, no other program can handle it instead because there can only be one handler for a specific Link type

Right now, magnet links with other params then ed2k can be handled by any other app, which is not possible if eMule handles them

Which workarounds do you mean?
Could you go into details please?

For example, if you install VS2003 and VS2005 and click on .sln file, the appropriate version would be launched depending on the contents of solution file.

I am not sure if we talk about the same thing :(

I mean EITHER emule OR e.g. BitTorrent handle the magnet Link, both are exclusive

What would be the major advantage of Magnet links anyway?

Depends on what you call the major advantage.
IMHO no miracles should be expected in terms of shared files count or the number of eMule users, but the ability to parse magnets could not be harmful and it does not look like a huge task.

To add such a feature, there should, at least, be a good reason.

Easy problem. A little program could be done, named for example "Magnet handler", which would be registered in Windows to handle all magnet links. This program would analyze the content of the passed Magnet link, so that if it contains an Elink it would relay it to eMule, and if it is a torrent then it would relay it to whatever program is registered in Windows to handle the *.torrent file extension.

What would be the benefit to all this? Simple: eMule users could clik on Magnet links in The Pirate Gulf, and be done with it: if it lands in eMule, fine, if it land in uTorrent, fine too.

Clik and be happy, my friend. :-)

So, 11 years later, it seems there is not Magnet support in eMule, yet.

No problem, we can wait more.
