dear users,

it pains me to tell You that i Have to announce the end of the morphxt mod. many of you will have realised that development got stalled more and more during the last months. we still know that many of you will miss the mod But it would be unfair to keep up this farce.

my poll Topic was actually about this. i was kind of uncertain on what to do so that was my way of flipping a coin. apparently, option 1 - the one that won - was for cancelation. fafner and leuk have no time any longer and that was about what remains of the morphxt team.

many appologies and i hope you understand our decision.

good bye morph!

stulle :(

I am an emule-web.de member and fan!

[Imagine there was a sarcasm meter right here!]

No, there will not be a new version of my mods. No, I do not want your PM. No, I am certain, use the board and quit sending PMs. No, I am not kidding, there will not be a new version of my mods just because of YOU asking for it!

Sad news indeed!
MorphXT was by far the best MOD I ever used.

Thank you all for your time and knowledge invested in it. :respect:

The poll has been driven by you

Quote

It is so urgent I do not even have the time to explain the details

As "urgent" needs the choice of the first option, you knew the result before it. :angelnot:
So if i had been a judge :hammer: , the poll was annulled. :-1:

I am sorry to be late to the party or maybe we should rather call it a wake.

Anyway as most of you guys have noticed the team (me included) have been far less active (yea that is an euphemism in some cases) lately. So there were really just two choices to be made. To let the project live on in the realm of the undead/half-alive as several other mod projects or make it official and just end it here.

You can see the result.

Anyway I want to thank everybody who was part of the team (past and present) and everybody that used this mod.

Hope you guys find some suitable replacement with an active dev team. I've heard about certain mods coming up for 0.49c so maybe look out for those. Who knows maybe some nice old timers find their way back into the world of the living?

Andu out

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Oh no. That's truly sad!
I got so used to it already although I haven't even been using it that long (1 or 2 years ).
Shame on you who voted option 1. ;) Shame on me for not voting at all (wouldn't have rescued it anyway). :frust:

Thanks to the whole Morph Team (also the retired ones)! I wish leuk and fafner all the best, hope you don't leave the modding scene for good...

Actually it didn't bug me that much that the develpment had stalled, as the Morph already had nearly everything I needed. I was satisfied enough by knowing that it kept up with official development.

Mhhhh I think I'll have a look at your other mods Stulle (I hope they are still continued? :) )

BTW, what is the most Morph alike Stulle mod (... or the most Morph alike mod in general)? :D

MorphXT was / is and probably will be a source of inspiration and a reference for most modders and thus this is indeed a moment of sorrow, however (I guess) :

since MorphXT derived mods (StulleMule, MagicAngel and the other non official ones) are yet to be declared R.I.P. - it means that those mods modders will merge them based on current official. Such merges will (from practical point of view) hold most (if not all) MorphXT code merge as well - thus I tend to look at this thread as a call for passing the torch rather then a final state.

This is not the end of eMule (get real - a new official is hot from the oven ...) as some posters here express their fears rather a declaration that the time for new (mods) modders is coming. It might take awhile before their skill level and self confidence will enable them to carry the torch and take on to maintain (and / or) further develop "on hold" existing mods or perhaps to produce new official mods. I do believe that the "shortage" of updated mods is just a temporary step back, and besides it is not that bad that advanced users will use official for awhile and their feedback will help to further improve it.
P2P is about sharing, ed2k is my choice !

That's really sad news.

What about the StulleMule ?
If you plan to continue it, why don't you just #ifdef the StulleMule-parts so you can mod the MorphXT together with the StulleMule ? Changes for both (for example fixes, updates to new official version, code improvements) can be done directly to the code, StulleMules features in #ifdefs. That way the MorphXT survives (perhaps without new features added but always on the newest codebase)... and you do the work of merging to new versions so or so when continueing the StulleMule.

Well, it's sad to see so many mods dying in the last time - ionix, phoenix, sivka, xtreme (reanimated by other modder), SilverSurfer, emulefuture, nextEMF, probably the neo, now the MorphXT, etc. :(
(Btw: the Spike2-Mod is not dead yet its development is just stalled but will be continued).

You want a light mod with source-dropping, Powershare and WiZaRd's ClientAnalyzer ?
Try Spike2-Mod !

You rather want to stick to official eMule but don't want to miss all the new fixes and optimizations from the mods ?
Try OfFixed-Mod !

That's some kind of surprise... and a bad one...
I noticed that Morph development slowed down but that didn't suprise me much as I have some more RL, too... and I know that some devs (Stulle, you are the one I mean) have a LOT on their back (just count the mods you're currently working at).
It is sad that you didn't go with a BANG - that is: release a new version, fix remaining issues (I know of 2 or 3 that I reported to leuk) - but saddest of all is that you didn't properly involve your fellow users. Yes, you made a (kinda fraudulent) poll but that doesn't count... one could say that you could have interpreted it any way you wanted it... but you could have called for ppl to help and even for new devs... well, it's your decision and I really hope that that doesn't mean the end for ALL morph-based mods.

On a sidenote:

Don't be so hasty... they haven't been declared officially dead and sometimes even the dead return (just finished reading "Pet Cemetary", again) :flowers:

MorphXT was my first, and only one, mod that has been running for long in my computer.

The result could be worst, or better, depending the point of view, if you consider the possibility of the ending of all those mods coded by Stulle (i.e. the end of Stulle as coder). So...

Thanks to all the MorphXT team for all the time spend in this great mod.

The mod is dead. Long live the mod!
