Hi there!

I've just started to use v0.49b and it seems to run great so far. However, I noticed a lot of "unusual" packets being processed in AddContact_KADEMLIA2, that is, there are 2 additional tags sent including an integer value, each... and they are *very* common!
Does anyone know about that tags or clients that are sending this data?

Regards,
WiZ

Sorry to disturb again but I have additional information:
The data within the packet has the tag opcode ô (0xF4) and õ (0xF5) which seem to be TAG_USER_COUNT and TAG_FILE_COUNT (if the official descibers were used) - maybe that's used by the AJ clients for their "community toplist feature"?

Wow, it's quite a lot from all over the world.

Are you sure about the source of these polluted tags? I might have to try to ban these ips.

I've noticed that most of these kad contacts have version 4 (0.47c?) or 2, 3 (0.47a-B). Since the ips doing this covered almost the whole world I tend to believe it's just caused by bugs of older kad implementation.

To be sure of the source, check kad code of 0.47c may be a good start.

Yeah, I just found it:

byteIOResponse.WriteTag(&CKadTagUInt(TAG_USER_COUNT, CKademlia::GetPrefs()->GetKademliaUsers()));
byteIOResponse.WriteTag(&CKadTagUInt(TAG_FILE_COUNT, CKademlia::GetPrefs()->GetKademliaFiles()));

these are the additional fields... but I wonder what they were sent for? They weren't used at all...

could this be from the early stages and was used for debugging? just guessing, though.

No, there will not be a new version of my mods. No, I do not want your PM. No, I am certain, use the board and quit sending PMs. No, I am not kidding, there will not be a new version of my mods just because of YOU asking for it!

What does this mean please, for some reason I no longer get any contacts on my Kad network.

Nothing to worry about ;)
Some users/clients are simply sending unnecessary data which just creates some overhead on the network...
