Well, noone shall say that things never change :) In the past we denied request for an italian forum section, for several reasons which a partially still valid. However, given the fact that italian users are together with french, spanish and german users the majority who visit our website and use eMule, while italian is the only language which does not have its own support section, i deceided to reconsider this. Since the other languages do work out quite well thanks to the diligent mods, it might be usefull to also add an italian forum section to provide support for eMule problems.

Now, the basic requirement for this would be a moderator who speaks italian, wants to invest time into helping and supporting other users, beeing our "voice" for news announcement and similar things as well as enforcing the forum rules (without misusing his power - which is reserved for me ;) ). So the question is if such a moderator could be found.
If you are intrested, just post here in the thread or PM me (please don't expect an answer to each PM through, i will read them in any case) Not much text needed, i will check what you have written on the board up till today, so preferable this should not be your first post.

If a moderator would be found, the italian section could follow shortly.

This is sad. I have lost my right to misuse my powers. :angelnot:

Wow, competition for emuleitalia, eh? It'll be interesting to see how this changes their dynamic, if at all ;)

This isn't supposed to be a competition against anyone, but just a help section on our board. The problem is that users who have a problem try to get help here first and we cannot and do not want to link directly to third-party sites for legal and other risks involved. Also its not like there can exist only one emule related help forum for any language on the world, esp since ours wouldn't cover any section but help/general questions.

Mmmmh....locking topics, banning people, whipping out some folks, establishing a reign of terror...sounds cool! Maybe I should volunteer.

What about CiccioBastardo ? I'll suggest him.

You want a light mod with source-dropping, Powershare and WiZaRd's ClientAnalyzer ?
Try Spike2-Mod !

You rather want to stick to official eMule but don't want to miss all the new fixes and optimizations from the mods ?
Try OfFixed-Mod !

We need to know if Ciccio agrees with taking responsibility. Another person could be white lightning but he don´t join the forum since last september.

Cheers :D

Nice to see italian coming into the official board, expecially from a contry like ours where foreign languages (english too) are not widely known as they are in many others eu countries :)

Currently I'm not as active here as I was in the past :(

Just want to wish good luck to any user that will volunteer ;)

Thanks a lot, there are lot of italian users who do't know english!!!
I have a suggestion about this thread, perhaps other moderators could post here their experience about effective time they have/need to dedicate to their moderator "role" in order to do a good job.
It is important for users in order to evaluate the real effort needed (first to apply their candidature).
Cheers

Not much, really. Most if it is already semi-automated by emails sent by the Posted Image button. The rest is occasionally monitoring View New Posts (or your respective forum), moving threads to a more appropriate subforums, etc. Oh, and responding quickly to spam.

Let me add that the italian moderator would have to invest some more time, for example for answering to support questions (as long as there are no active users which are going to help), maybe translating minor text passages from english forum announcements, informing us about problems in the italian board and so on.

Personally I vote for CiccioBastardo, he is very competent and I always liked the way he has managed discussions.
I am currently busy, I have 3-4 hard weeks now (I have to work :( ), alternatively, I have had surely applied my candidature yet.
Cheers

P.s:
In case there is still a need for an italian moderator at the end of Summer then I'll try adding my candidature.
I also think that being an active mldonkey user too could be a big shortcoming for a candidate :) isn't it?
I also suppose you need an user with a deep english knowledge in order to be a reliable EIAL (English-to-Italian Abstraction Layer), I have two friends with these powers.. I'm going to point this thread to them shortly.

Surely there doesn't have to be just one mod. If there are more available then it will help spread the load.

Just updating this topic, to let you know it hasn't died. There has been no decision made about the moderator yet, but in due time there will be :) However other areas, demand attention currently, so the setup of the section will get delayed a bit (probably after the next release, which isn't that far away).

Well i'm italian, i can speak an understable english (or at least i think :P), i help emule morph users since long time and i administer a forum.

The only thing i miss is the time to do this! I'd be very proud of helping italian users but really i don't know if i'll have time to do so in future. Maybe some post in spare times, not regularly of course.

Good luck to anyone who wants to get it :flowers:
