Hi,

What TCP and UDP ports are recommended both in the eMule program and in my router?

Also, I am not sure if someone can answer this also. Is eMule big for HDTV movies? If so, do I find those movies in the program itself or do I need to go to a special site?

eMule nor this board does not care what you transfer with it. I bet there is HDTV stuff there also.

The forum rules(rule 2) however forbid to talk about it.

and anyport i ok for eMule. Some providers block some ports, so take a random port other than 4662 and 4672

Any number between 1 and 65535 will do - though a number above 1024 is strongly recommended. You should also not use the (old) default ports of 4661.
If you want, you can use the same port number for both TCP & UDP so you can reduce the number of port forwarding/firewall rules for your router/firewall (if necessary).
For New Users:

1. Read the eMule manual and the Forum Rules.
2. Then Read This Before Starting A New Thread!
3. Then check the Quick help & guides forum.
4. Search the forum for your problem.

before opening your own posts.

any unused port will do (even below 1024), other than the standard p2p ports. also, some mods have an option to randomize their ports on connection.

just because i'm paranoid doesn't mean you're not one of them.

A bit of a thread-bump, hope that's okay with you guys.. Any known "issues" with overriding default eMule ports? I mean, for instance that some clients only tries the default port numbers, causing you to miss out on a node just because you're using something entirely different? Thought I'd ask!

Nice 2020 nekro! :-)
All the correct things have already been said in this thread. Any port in the range 49152-65535 is probably best. The old default ports may be getting blocked somewhere, but this range is free by default.

TCP tests fail with ANY ports I try, including those recommended here. My ISP can't block them all? I don't use a firewall (the one in Windows is disabled) or router. Torrents work.

Hi, do you get an own public ipv4? We in germany have the trouble with cable ISPs, that we get most of the time only an ipv6 and the ipv4 is tunneled by the ISP. So no port forwarding possible for emule in that case. Security and annonymity aspects aside, i have to use a vpn to get emule working... torrent performance is way better too with vpn. oh, and emule cant use ipv6 at least until 0.50. I think to remember that fox have it in the later versions. (0.60?)

I know this problem as "NATed". Maybe this is the problem you encounter.

Hi! Thanks for the tip. With eMule 0.60 I can at least connect, with 0.50 I couldn't. TCP tests still fail though. I'm in Ukraine. Local ISPs may use a similar setup as German ones. My current IP is 91.234.78.192 but I'm banned on one site as 37.120.153.2. So probably no dedicated public IPv4. I'm not familiar with VPN in general but can use OpenVPN to access some sites. I wonder if a script for OpenVPN or similar could help with port forwarding and LowID. Übrigens kann ich gut Deutsch.
