Erroneous Files, So Many Of Them, Why?

I have been a very keen supporter of emule since I first met it some years ago, a great program.
But for the very first time I can remember since first using it, I am getting large numbers of failed downloads due to the files being erroneous, or so I am told they are.
Can someone shed any light on the reason for this?
Thank you

If so, then you have either run out of disk space/Emule cannot get access to write files to the assigned directory, or the files contain illegal chars. In this case either free up space/correct access problem or right-click/details.../change name as appropriate then resume file.
If you mean that server/log is reporting about corruption then make sure you are connected to a valid server.

Yes I am getting this error specifically in the transfers window - ie. the yellow/black stripes.
I have plenty of disk space.
Regarding the access problem, I have checked that emule is set to save the files downloaded in the correct folder, that has never changed.
Can you be more specific about the illegal chars?
I have never had this problem until the last week or so.
Sorry I am not that technicaly minded, I would appreciate a simple reply
Thank you

Illegal characters are those that can't be used in filenames and may include: / ? < > \ : * | "
If you think this is the problem then....

The files I am downloading do not appear to have any illegal chars.
Any other thoughts about this?
To give some idea during the last week almost all of the files I try to download are marked as erroneous?
Thanks

read niclight's post again, and try all the suggestions. (and just because you can't see any of the characters i mentioned, still try the rename and resume option) btw - by access, niclights also means ensure the folder isn't read only.

I have triple checked that the incoming folder is there, it is, no problem.
I cannot seem to find out how to change the file names, other than by right clicking/selecting details and then changing the file name, but this changes the downloading icon.
I am going to reinstall it and see what happens.

Look at servers/log to find out why exactly you have the erroneous status.

thank you so much for your input.
Where can I find the servers/log?
I have looked in the emule folder but I can see no mention of it.
Still getting a great many erroneous downloads.
Nothing to do with a firewall, though I do have a router, but this has been the case for the past two years and I have never had this problem before, effectively I cannot download anything at all, eventually every file I try to catch becomes an erroneous file.
Thank you again for your advice...help!

I am still losing all my downloads, this is the information from the server/log
A hardware I/O error was reported while accessing C:\Program Files\eMule\Temp 4.part.
Does this help anyway?
Thanks

Another thing to check is to make sure that your SYSTEM has write permission to the "Incoming" folder. Somehow my folder permissions got corrupted. Restoring permissions in the 'Incoming' folder to match the 'Temp' folder fixed my problem.
