Inspired by xscarab's sig

Quote

Footballers' quotes: "One accusation you can't throw at me is that I've always done my best." (Alan Shearer)

I wanted to present some famous qoutes from german footballers but most quotes prove to be difficult to translate.

For the moment I found a nice english footballer's quote :

Quote

I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered

That's from George Best

A quote from Andi Müller, about which club he favours to be playing for

Quote

Milano or Madrid - as long as it's in Italy ...

A copper pulled over a driver who had been weaving in and out of the traffic.
He approached the car window and said "Sir, I need you to blow into this breathalyser".
The man reaches into his pocket and produces a doctor's note. On it was written:
"This man suffers from chronic asthma. Do not make him perform any action that may leave him short of breath".
The copper said "OK Sir, then I need you to come and give a blood sample"
The man produced another letter. This one said: "This man is a haemophiliac. Please do not cause him to bleed in any way".
So the officer said: "Then I will need a urine sample, please".
The man produces a third letter from his pocket.
It read: "This man plays football for England. Please don't take the piss out of him."

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

2008 IIHF World Junior Hockey Tournament

If you like hockey, or at least, win some money betting on the Canadians ;) , then you may watch the Canadian juniour team games in this tournament on broadband. The medal round games are also available on broadband. The pre-tournament program is also available on broadband where you can watch the TSN windbags tell you who they think is good (Canada), what teams and players to watch for (Canada, and Canadian players), and who will win (Err, Canada!)

Tournament Schedule
http://www.tsn.ca/wo...eature/?fid=445

Broadcast Schedule
http://www.tsn.ca/wo...ature/?fid=4124

Apologies to our Spanish eMulers, none of the Spanish Toronto Raptor players will be appearing on these programmes since they're too tall, and they don't make skates in their sizes.

I was watching this and took absolutely no notice of what Rooney was saying because I became transfixed on his erm's, you know's, erm, you know's and you know, erm's. I know I shouldn't laugh (cos it was about the munich tragedy) but erm, you know, erm.. well, erm... Incredible! Bless him. :D
Gary Neville had a few of them too.

I was reading something more/less (?) significant into what you were saying :) Naughty bits, that sort of thing :P He's typical for an interviewed sports athlete. They're used to being seen on camera, but when they have to open their mouths and speak to anyone other than an official, it is as though they have a 2 foot high subconscious kicking them in the ass, interrupting their thought process. Here we have a lot of "y'knows" and "ehhhs". Makes for marvelous television.

They get itchy whenever forced to keep the hot-head routine in check for more than 5 minutes.

Wouldn't those mines be rather small? But I guess that's good for something that is supposed to lay hidden and blow people up.
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Xscarab: I won't say anything about the Spaniards and their hair... even if they have a lot!

Leny: If it is that big, he holds it as though it is in the shape of a hula hoop! :P

Andu: Maybe he's intending to set off an explosion in his pants...

Torpon: You said a long time ago that you don't watch soccer/football. But this was a test to determine if you are a die-hard Spanish athlete supporter, and you passed the test with flying colors ;) With Chris Bosh out of the line-up, Calderon is doing his best to lead the team, and he's doing very well.

Australia to bid for 2018 World Cup...

Doesn't matter that 'soccer' :P is way down the list of football codes here, that we don't have enough stadiums, that many venues are oval, dual function cricket / AFL, that it would be played in the middle of AFL and Rugby League / Union seasons [yeah, they'll just take a 6 week break!!], that Soccer Australia is resisting the playing of 'exhibition' games here from the regular FA season....

Many here SERIOUSLY think we are contenders!!
Stll, with everything the game has going against it here, we did 'pretty good' in the last Cup, and there is nothing us Aussies love more than 'sticking it up the rest of you'! :) A lot can happen in 10 years though, and if it isn't 2018, then a home win in 2022 is DEFINITELY on the cards!!! :-k
