Is there a way to know if eMule on my machine is working as well as possible? Some sort of test? Fifty kbps is the fastest I have achieved so far, mostly in the 1kb to 12 range.

Shokan, your question is un-related to this guide for getting reliable server lists and good IP filters. You should post any requests for help/information in the relevant sections of Support - Do You Need Help?.

You'll probably find the Quick Help Guide Why Are My Downloads So Slow. (7/22/03) should answer your question.

Thank you Birk & Trebla for the instructions. It has been going smoothly until I tried to paste the link and I got a massage , which said " IP filter download failed". http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz was in the box below update from URL when I clicked on load. Anyone got any ideas?

5) In the box bellow the title: " Update from URL:(filter.dat-or PeerGuardian-format)" paste this link: http://emulepawcio.s...et/ipfilter.zip and after push the close button "Load"
The URL you have used is for server list not for ipfilter.

Cheers :D

A small point to add to the instructions. When you're changing options don't forget to use the 'apply' button before you press 'ok'. What a great tutorial. Cheers.

Trebla, TNX a lot for the guidance. Even a dumb person like me succeeded getting a server list when it suddenly went blank. Took me an hour but at least got started. Tomorow will try the "Uplifter" business, but stil have a problem.

After following all the steps up to the GRUK list everithing went fine, got a list of serwers, conected to one of them and started downoading again. Then I checked the servers in the list and ...they are exactli the pink' colored ones from the GRUK list? So, do I risk something using these "NOT 100% save servers" or what?

I have v0.49a

Search is still not working

I just tried all that and like before when Emule's search quit working, when starting Emule, I see this

http://i273.photobuc...rker/severs.jpg

But unfortunately, going through that did not work this time. Even after restarting my whole system, Emule's search will not work at all :-(

EDIT:
5 minuites later. I just found that in the search window, if I switch the "method" dropdown from "servers" to "kad network" the search does work, but I'm thinking I'd still better geti it to work of the default setting of "servers" just to be on the safe side

Cloudchaser, don't cross-post. You alreasdy have a topic going with the exact same question here:
http://forum.emule-p...s...=136212&hl=
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

OK, I'll remember that, I thought it was OK because I saw what I thought was others also asking questions

IMO, there is a "problem" with these instructions right now though, because the current pawcio filter v0129 allows bad servers to get in your emule serverlist, maybe a note of this, and instructions in the guide at an appropriate place to remove the ultrauploader servers from your list after using gruk to update from will help, but for simplicity until the pawcio filter is fixed or gruk remove those servers from the list, maybe it would be better to just use the peerates list for now? (I know it's easy to add the ultra's to the ipfilter, but not sure if that's just one step too much for a newbie)

edit: looks like gruk have removed the ultra uploader servers from their list now, so no longer a problem.
