If you have a deactivated software of security, you do not have anything. The solution is not to disable it, the solution is to configure this software, so that it fulfills his function, that is not other than to protect your computer.

Opening Ports in the Norton Internet Security 2005.

Step 1:
Open up the Norton Internet Security program.

Posted Image

Step 2:

In the menu on the left hand side of your screen click the Norton Internet Security button.

Posted Image

Step 3:
Click the Personal Firewall link in the middle of the page. Then in the lower right hand corner click the Configure button.

Posted Image

Step 4:
Click the Programs tab at the top of the screen.

Posted Image

Step 5:
Find the program you are opening ports for in the list at the bottom of the screen. Right click on that program. A list of options

should come up as shown in the following screenshot.

Posted Image

Click the Permit All option. Permit all will allow access to this program regardless of the port which the data is on. It doesn't really matter what port is trying to access the program, as long as only that program can be accessed. After this is done click Ok all the way back to the main screen.
And that is it. Those ports should now be open.

About Opening port in Norton Internet Security 2006.

Posted Image

the only significant change, with respect to NIS 2006, is option homepage protection.
By the others the process is equal to NIS 2005.

To configure Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall exclusions

1. Exit all open programs.
2. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
3. Double-click Intrusion Detection, and then click Signatures. This opens the Signature Exclusions list.
4. Choose Invalid IP Flags from the list, and then click Exclude.
5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
