Hi,

I've been currently using ScarAngel v1.9 and having problems with the newer v2.0. So I'd like to report/ask few things overall:
1. ScarAngel v2.0 crashes in cases v1.9 didn't crash at all. Since I started with v1.9, I've been multitasking (mainly DVB related) where v1.9 didn't complain at all with changed priority settings & etc... But when I tried v2.0, it crashes when system gets fully loaded with a message (I can't remember what) that says there's some kind of file/dump had been created to send back. After it crashed 4 times in a row I switched back to v1.9 where everything reverts back to be fine. Please advise me on this and if it's 'to try v2.0' again please guide me about what to do & don't. Because lately I've been after rare emule files where crashes/restarts really hurt my queue scores...

2. After the crashes I sadly realized that the next time I started ScarAngel, it overwrites the good backup with bad/crashed one (with 0 size known.met) without warning or such. I admit I should had been careful enough to recover them in between crash & restart. But since ScarAngel crashed with a dump, the next time it's started shouldn't it be aware of that 'it crashed the last time' so that instead of overwriting the good backup, it should recover it? And also shouldn't be overwriting take place "at the end" of the session instead of the 'beginning' so that it overwrites with a known another 'good copy'? This is only for those out there unaware of that could happen because now I manually backup over ScarAngel's double backups (lesson learned ;-)...

3. I looked at the last few pages on the forum & realized if I'm not mistaken you've been constantly updating your major release. Like

thx 4 report. bug found and fixed. small workarround for now:

This is a good thing & thank you for this. Yet I've got to ask isn't the minor version(or build) numbers are for this purpose? As I searched this about ScarAngel, I realized:
Posted Image
You haven't touched the version info in your builds which stills points official 0.47. If it isn't too much to ask can you 'post at the forum' and 'compile with' build numbers so it'll be easier to track the real version?

4. I love Mods especially yours because of the feature among others "Downloaded History"=Known.met. Official only makes you aware of known.met via search page which is restrictive & insufficient. As with the crashes I realized it's hard to rescontruct the 'known.met' manually. To do this; I put the files downloaded between the good backup and the crash in the 'incoming' directory. Restart ScarAngel and let it re-hash the incoming. Close ScarAngel so that hashes will be written/added to known.met. Repeat as needed...

As far as it sounds simple, it's a torture if you already distributed files among directories/drives and you missed some while re-hashing so that you have re-hash/restart the rest etc... I'd like to ask if there's a better way for this? Or can there be a future feature of ScarAngel (like adding this function to "Reload" button in 'Incoming') that will do this dynamically (writing/adding without restarts)?

Thanks for reading and this outstanding Mod.... ;-)

dump files help me to trace the error. unless you send it to me or provide a detailed description of the interaction with the program it is close to impossible for me to trace the error. further help is an excerpt of your log and verbose log seconds before the crash.

well, there is a way to prevent that from happening but i don't think it's needed. there is the possibility to double backup your config folder and doing this you can easily replace the config backups from the backup2 folder if your backup folder got messed up due to your lack of attention.
nevertheless, the dump file is only related to failure reports and as such will only help the author of the code - me.

v1.9 is in fact based on emule v0.47.2 or as it is officially called emule v0.47c! as you can see on starting up scarangel v2.0 it says emule 0.48a, which equals v0.48.0, like it is set in the code. if your screenshot results from the v2.0 exe file i assume it is either an failure by windows or by the official emule as this particular code is kept untouched!

in order to restore an messed up known.met replace the file in your config file with the known.met file from one of your backup directories. this way you will keep all the file stats and hashes up to the point of crashing. to ensure no further problems i advise you to copy all other files starting with "known" to your config folder.

well, if you have enabled the ASFU (Automatic shared files updater) feature your shared dirs will be checked for changed files or any other alterations within those folders. when ever they are recognized the shared files list is updated/ reloaded immediatly.
all file hashes are saved in the known* files. as long as they are fine no rehashing is neccessary. see advises above (backup and thelike).
your shared folders are saved in the preferences.ini! if it gets corrupted and thus your choice of shared folders is lost proceed with the file like with the known* files.

Thanks for your reply,

For not to re-quote all conversation I'll just refer them by number:

1. OK. I'll revert back to v2.0 & try to recreate the error so that the dump file will be created (BTW is dump files only exclusive to v2.0 or they were present in v1.9 also?). Correct me if I'm wrong but by the log you mean "eMule.log" and by verbose you mean "eMule - (some date).log" which is bigger in the "logs" folder. Also what's the name of the dump & what folder will it be?

2. Thanks for explaining. Lesson learned ;-)...

3. No the screenshot is taken from v1.9 as I told I revert back to it because of my v2.0 problems. But I'll have to ask; Do you constantly (minor) update your releases with same major number or not? My probleming v2.0 ScarAngel has CRC32 of 5140C5D3 which I assume to be latest?

4. Perhaps being sleepy, I can't seem to be find ASFU (Automatic Shared Files Updater) among ever growing options within eMule, can you please be more specific like Options->ScarAngel->SA.Tab->Misc ... etc.? I guess I didn't enable it because whenever ScarAngel crashes, ended by 'Kill Process' or any 'known' and 'unrequested' file pulled out from Incoming while it's working, the newly downloaded files are not present in known.met. BTW, how about Known2_64.met? Now mine is around 15Mb which is bigger than IPFilter & growing. As the explanations are little vague, I'd like to ask from time to time can I delete this file without hurting my known.met functionality (Downloaded History)?

5. Last night I realized something else that confuses me:
Posted Image
Image was taken while "details" of chosen user is opened.(Use 'view image' to zoom)

I'd to like which one is true since the results are obviously contradicting... (There's also update difference between 23.05Mb & 23.09Mb, yet not important since opened infobox is not in realtime where background is...).
Left-to-Right arrows shows down:23.05Mb up:_5.14Mb
Up--to-Down arrows shows down:_5.14Mb up:23.09Mb
So I'd like to ask is this a bug & which one should I take into account?

Thanks again...

P.S: I'm sorry that I can't do more than complimenting since you deserve better by spending your time on this Mod where you can enjoy other things within that time... ;-)

dump files are reproduced on every crash using the xtreme or an xtreme based mod (like scarangel). you find the dump file in the folder of your executable file with the ending .dmp or thelike. the log is "eMule - 2007.**.**.log" verbose log is "eMule_Verbose - 2007.**.**.log" with the stars representing in order of appearance month and day. these are located in the logs dir!

as already mentioned, the official version naming is not to be altered and thus it is the same like in the official emule. when the title of your emule window starts with "eMule v0.48a" you will have a mod (or the official mule) that is exactly of the version 0.48.0! the fourth number (in your example 66) is the build number, which is of no big importance as you won't see it until checking the file details like you did.
the scarangel naming started with 0.1 in alpha stage and was first released with the version number 1.0! all updates within one major version number (currently 48) will increase the mod_minor version number, which is in fact 0 at this very moment. whenever the minor version number (0, too) increases and we publish a mod based on that version we will also only increase the mod_minor version number. when the major version number increases we will increase the mod_major number like from 1 (major = 47) to 2 (major = 48). i hope you get the idea!

check again the misc section for the last option. it is something like "Automatic reload of shared files". this is exactly the feature i mean.
the known2.met file stores all AICH hashes of file except the very big ones (>4GB). the known2_64.met takes those. the known.met contains "common" hashes and stats about all files. to remove either of them is unwise. nevertheless i think that xman once added a function removing unused AICH hashes. please check his docs and search this subforum for more information about that. anyhow, no hash of a shared file will be deleted without causing a rehash of the exact file in order to restore the hash.

Both are right but a little confusing. For the collumn header:
up = what we gave the client = what he downloaded (from us)
down = what we got from the client = what he uploaded (to us)

for the client details it is rephrased and thus a little confusing:
Downloaded total = what he downloaded (from us)
Uploaded total = what he uploaded (to us)

i think you get the idea...

Dear gee-eff-dee-gee-dee-eff-ess-gee-eff-dee-ess-gee-ess-dee-eff,

you should remove the reference to copyrighted material in your post. Additionally you should check your free space on the harddrive, the option "start new downloads in paused mode" and for the missing dl the download.txt.

You want a light mod with source-dropping, Powershare and WiZaRd's ClientAnalyzer ?
Try Spike2-Mod !

You rather want to stick to official eMule but don't want to miss all the new fixes and optimizations from the mods ?
Try OfFixed-Mod !

Great mod - have been using it for quite some time 24/7 with no real problems. Good work.

One question though - I do realize that NACF is meant to be a lot better than ZZUL, but for users like me who are running a server side-by-side with clients, NACF can't work as intended.

The result is, that I have to manually set the uploadspeed, which means that my Emule usually uploads less than it could.

Is there a reason why ZZul has been removed? Would it be troublesome to add it back?

it'd be more than just troublesome. you must realize that the xtreme mod uses and entirely different upload system which is incompatible with the zz code and idea.

i recommend you give a certain percentage of your line to your emule computer and share the rest through out your network. to enforce certain limits on other computers use netlimiter. this way you will ensure there are no interferences. nevertheless you will either waste bandwith for emule or limit your other network computer though there is a way they weren'T.

memo to myself: change the subtitle after changing the title... wait a moment, it'll be done then.
