Do you, Lugdunum, see extending the protocol to support some kind of "virtual elink" possible, so that it would group together several files in one single edonkey link?

What advantadge would that have over emulecollection?

Edit: Oops! Too late.

pepe0008 collections are there to share multiple files with just one link

What "collections"? I've never heard of them.

Quote

# Collections: you can create, view and use collections for eMule, to bundle a number of files virtually together and use this to define a set of files. A set that can be signed to ensure the origin.

Special files : you can share it in eMule, share it on http server, or make a php-program to construct automaticly > (see here for an example)

Alright, I see now what an "emulecollection" is, essentially a little binary file containing together the names and hashes of several files shared in the edonkey network. I am using aMule 2.1.3 and there is no support of "emulecollections" yet.

Yes, this addresses the problem I mentioned, but it does it at the client/application level, not at the protocol level... Hmm, kind of an ugly hack, but it could work...

Still, could a more transparent solution at the protocol level be better? (I don't see many people using "emulecollection"s, but I see a lot of multi-file torrents around...)

So...
what is the disadvantage of the client-side implementation?
You can search for emulecollections via emule's integrated search. Which makes them superior to torrents. Other than that they offer the same possibilities: They can be published on a website, sent by email or can be made public any other way.

For exemple amule doesn't implement collection. Then Linux user don't use linux collection.

But pepe0008: bittorent need an extra files to have 'several files shared in one' : the .torrent files.

ed2k work without extra files .
I don't know if it's possible to integrate 'several files shared in one' in the protocol ... in bittorent , i don't think it's in the protocol.

Is Razorback back?

After more than five months of absence, we return finally, but seriously cut down by our technical installations, our 2 waiters eDonkey and part of our news.

During this absence, we set up our strategy of defense and launched the first procedures, reason for which we have to compel us to stop any communication.

Five months without you to announce our situation and without calling some with the support of the community were not a sinecure. We thus decided to publish a first news bulletin. Others will follow news progressively.

The safeguards of our sites being on the seized waiters and not having been able to be restored to us, we put on line the version of December 23, 2005.

I just love auto-translation. :)

Until there is an "official" and verified announcement from lugdunummaster, those servers will not get into my list.

You can call me paranoid, if you want to. ;)

The eD2k Razorback Servers are NOT online since February 2006, they probably won't be online until a long time ...

Hm, I also noticed 'Cheztoff' vanished some time ago and is almost dead by now. <_<
Seems like only Donkeyservers (the real one's of course) and KAD are left.

You can see them from time to time uploading jamendo.com releases :)

There are three kinds of people in this world: people who watch things happen ... people who complain about things that happen ... and people who make things happen...

jamei is a spammer :-1: , practically none of he's posts make any sense. He's signature contains a link to a web site and the only purpose of he's posts is creating more links to he's (most likely a scam) site.
I already reported about one of he's other posts. Ignore him and don't click on any of he's links.
