When Do You Give Up On A Download How long do you leave a download in the hope it will complete?

Wondering what other people's strategy is on this - some downloads come through quick. Then there are a few that seem dead for ages or half complete, then eventually come through. How log do other people leave downloads like this in the hope that they might complete?

Every now and then I tend to sort based on last seen complete date and look at the last reception column - if both these are quite a way back I tend to give up on it. Wondering if anyone else has different strategies for clearing up their transfers list.

If you have seen the file complete have faith. All the files I've seen complete at least one time usually download. It can take some time though.

Worth doing a fresh search from time to time, both on ED2K and KAD method to find new sources.
Often media files are posted with different sizes but similar content. Somebody has downloaded both and deleted the unwanted one that you have patiently queued forever. Try the other one.
As you have learned, you cannot force a complete stranger somewhere across the vast expanse that is the Internetz to share a file you want unless they feel like it.
I always filter my searches by the value of 1 for Availability, and also Sources for exactly this reason.
