There is nothing touching the shared directories. They are on a physically separate drive, no AV scans them, etc.
Here is the log and a portion of the verbose. If you'd like the entire log(s), let me know how to send them to you.

could you please provide some information about your system¿

for now i see only one possibilty for you, which is disabling... :(

I have disabled the feature for now.
My system is Vista Business, UAC disabled at install, Defender disabled, all current patches.
2 core P4, 2 Gb RAM, connected via a D-Link 804 router.
KAV only looking at the system drive, not any others.
Scarangel is installed to a different physical drive and config is kept with the executables.
Temp files as well as shared files are on this separate physical drive as well.

No, I have not tested with any others. I am going to be away for 2 weeks, so will not be able to test until I return.
I'd be interested in knowing of others running Vista and configured the same are having this problem too.
Meantime, I have disable the feature and just do a reload of shared files when I need to.

As I said, the important bits, uploads and anti-leach are working fine for me.

Small bug (Scarangel/Extreme): A mod/nick thief who has an md4 string in opcode doesn't get banned but receives a reduced score, even though I've set nick/mod thieves to ban. (he's stealing my nick/mod hence, I noticed).

Small bug 2 (Scarangel): sometimes [EMULATE] gets logged twice in the verbose log:

Yes, but I'm not sure that is the right way to go. I would think that any combination that might lead to a ban, should result in ban. But even without following that logic, I would think nick/mod thiefs should outweigh community detection. Communities aren't bad per se (on average, I get about the same up-down ratio from them), wheres mod and nickthiefs are in a whole different ballpark. Especially if they are stealing mine.

this is nonsense. a community is known to disadvantage any non-community client like scarangel/xtreme users. nick-/mod-thiefs can only get themself an advantage when we grant them one due to the same mod or nick (tag inside the nick). as neither of the above mentioned mods gives an advantage for that it is of no need. contrary to that morphxt (and mods based on that) allows to show files only to "community" clients. so when a client has a matching tag in his name he may see our shared files. this can be exploited by nick-thiefs.

I think communities are not bad per se. Some are, some are not. And sometimes communities have a good reason for being there (such as different networks speeds for a particular range/area or country). Mod and Nick thieves are opportunists who try to get benefits they don't contribute too and that just as bad as a bad/closed community (and may even be worse). Plus stealing ones nick (and mod) is just not nice.

So IMHO:

Nick- / Modthiefs [Ban]
Community Mods [Reduce score]

is more logical and Nick- / Modthiefs should have more weight as Community mods.
