I installed windows x64 yesterday and eMule crashed like crazy. The next version of windows (vista) will also be a 64-bit OS. Is this problem being looked at? Will eMule have a 64-bit version (is there a piont for eMule to work at 64-bit)?

No. I cannot see it. 64 bit means that it can address more memory. Since emule only uses arround 100 MB (well 38 MB to 155 MB are typical numbers is see) there is no need for more i think.

Since emule not even supports files > 4GB i think there really is no priority for 64 bit support. I think the WOW ( the 32 bit windows emulator) is not up to speed. In previous reports there was e memory leak when using UDP if i remember, but i am too lazy to search for the topics.
Download the MorphXT emule mod here: eMule Morph mod

The thing is that lphant (which is still working at 32-bit on x64) works with no problems, it also uses upd... Does eMule has a known issue working on 64-bit windows OS (x64 and vista)? And if so will this issue be resolved or is it considered a Microsoft problem?

You're the first one complaining about crashes. up to now, users only reported high memory usage due to mem leaks...

Sorry, I don't get it.

eMule isn't crashing on a 64-Bit-System, but other programs (like eMule x64 or lphant) seem to crash. And so you ask about stability isues in eMule?

THAT ARE COMPLETLY DIFFERENT PROGRAMMS :woot:

@Archmage: I think you need to re-read the thread carefully - you are obviously missing something. what the hell is "eMule x64", who said that lphant is crashing on windows x64 and most importantly WTF are you talking about?

@buzz: OK lets say it's just mem leaks. Is this problem being looked at or is it considered a microsoft issue?

BTW this is my 666 post

It works on Win32. The only change is, that it now runs on the WoW-Layer (32<->64bit) So apparently its a problem on the Windows-side, because no program changes should be needed to run on 64bit machines.

It was my mistake, Morph crashed anf I (stupidly)assumed it's a general eMule problem. Been running eMule for a day so far with no problems (na crashes and no memory leaks).
