:confused: :(
Hi! At home we have two computers. One is an old box, the other is a good laptop computer. The old box is connected to the net (ADSL 256kB/s) directly. Using a hub, we send the connection to the laptop. The net speed in the laptop is ussualy higher (browsing the net) due to its superior configuration. However the download/upload speed in the laptop is unusually slow compared to that of the desktop. Why is that so? Is it because one i connected directly to the net and the other as a client? Or is got nothing to do with this? Is there any way of changing the configuration to overcome this problem? Apreciate the help!!!

PS: Both computers show THE SAME high ID when connected to the server

Vanya

Computer configuration/specs should not have much affect on network or internet browsing speed.

You have not made clear what you are doing. Are you trying to run Emule on both or just one machine? What speeds are different - browsing? Emule downloads? Emule uploads?

We are running emule on both computers, the laptop and the desktop. The upload/download speed in emule is really slow in the desktop and normal in the laptop...

If you are running both at the same time they must both use different sets of ports, with associated firewall/routing settings. Presumably if the second computer is accessing the internet through the first one then ICS is acting as a router & will require forwarding.

Also, if both instances are running simultaneously then you must also limit DL & UL in both to balance out. I would guess approx 30% bandwidth for each. This practice is not recommended though and will be less productive than running on just one machine.

Anything in the range 1-65534. Avoid reserved ones.

@niclights

Uhm... I use TCP 5010, witch is reserved to Yahoo messenger. I do not have installed that.

Should I replace it for another port number?

And make sure the two machines are running on different TCP/UDP ports from each other. Also, be sure to set up the specific services rules in ICS for the client machine. HTH.
