I also had my ~10MB clients.met erased. Otherwise working ok so far.

Unfortunately this version seems to have a memory leak :(
zz's version uses ~40MB after running for more than a month, but BastarD ballooned to ~1GB after less than a week!

So I've gone back to zz's version...

I have used it for an entire week now, but it stayed around 45MB.

I have rebooted yesterday, and it is still 43MB.

If there's a memory leak it should be in a particular function you use often. However, I have not changed much from ZZUL, and my code is completely tagged. Anyone interested may look for an eventual memory leak in my code, if it has the time. Currently I have not.

Thanks in advance.

I tried it for a couple of days but it kept sucking my resources (memory leak equals higher cpu and slower response time from the rest of the computer), so I went back to latest normal zz build instead.
Didnt seem like suqwt was something I really needed anyway.

Always fun to see new builds though. :)

I have not rebooted since I wrote the post above, but I have added quite a but of files to the download section reaching 24 files in download.

Now memory usage has increased to 80MB.
It is still a huge amount of used memory, but not critical.
I'll try to investigate on the problems you have.

Thanks for the feedback

Again an update: the archive with the detailed documentation on the source code is now available for those interested.

Are there any news to address backward compatibility issue of client.met?

I have had a fast look at the source code.
I have not find anything wrong in it.
My mod saves both the new and old known client.met
Just rename your client.met before running the mod, or it seems it is going to be replaced with an empty one.
Still have to seriously see what can be done in that part of the code (and see why the new format is so big with respect to the old one).

Any suggestion appreciated.

Sorry for using this subforum to get feedback from my mod.
I'll keep it into this only thread if ZZ agrees with this.

However, I had a detailed look at what eMule does when saving the clients.met files.
I have not seen anything wrong again. My clients.met are 692K for the one containing SUQWT data and 652K for the one called 30c, which does not contain them and should be compatible with the official release.
Are you still witnessing problems with these files?

Next version I'm building will have a push small file feature. I'm thinking of pushing files in the range 0-180K at max, but a 0-9.28MB progressive method (with smaller pushed better than larger) could be implemented as well.
Only thing, I still have to see how to make this feature optional, as I have not made any changes to the preferences windows yet.

Thanks for any feedback in advance

It's perfectly OK to post about mod mods here. :)

Here we are.

Third version of the Bastard mod.

Some new small changes, and most of all, the Small File Pushing feature!
It pushes files smaller that a chunk with a hyperbolic function, that is, the smaller the file the much higher its rating booster.
Some examples:
Size (MB) Rating Booster
9.28 1
4.64 2
1.03 9
0.92 10
0.51 20
0.09 100

The max allowed rating booster is 1000. This means that a small enough file (<90KB) climbs the uploading queues 1000 times faster than a normal file.
Usual priorities still work to fine tune the booster (if really needed).
Powershare has always the precedence over SFP.

UploadList and SharedList now show files with different background colours distinguishing Powershared files (as old versions for SharedList) and SFP ones.

Also added some more info in the UploadList (file size and client IP number) and in QueueList (file size).

SUQWT is still there and it works flawlessly for me.

Hope you enjoy this release.

I was almost forgetting to thank zz for his fantastic work.
Hope there'll be a new ZZUL mod with the incoming eMule next version.

Was my first intention, but I wanted to keep the history...

So, well, I'll just add these new links at its bottom.

Thanks for the suggestion (or confirmation that the first page is the one to be updated at every release :) )

Downloaded, latest version, backed up the config and ran it up the flag pole.

No real problems as yet, except the creditfile is outdated and will be replaced, not that it worries me per se.

Previous version being run MorphXT 5.12 or regular 44d.

Will let you know if I find anything else.

Regards.

Edit>
When running in minimised mode there is no report of the download speed, upload appears to report correctly and the download indicator shows, but no speed reports, it is possible that the name is too long for the area allowed?

The colours used do make it easy to identify which file is on which priority but with my eyesight at my age it is darn difficult to read a lime green file name that is highlighted in light blue :-k

Oh, yeah, de gustibus non disputadis est.
I have to look for new colors then (I'll probably change the text colors instead of the nice background ones, though :) ).
New version I'm just compiling has colors of for powershared files in the uploading file list as well (I forgot them in the latest version, :frust:). What do you prefer, violet text on yellow background or blue on red? :D
/edit: still have to choose the colors

I've noticed the problem of the popup bubble as well. Probably the string is now too long with my mod name added and it is cut somewhere.
I'll have a look at that as well.
/edit: seems ok now

I've been running the client for some days now and I have had not problems at all (but while experimenting the early implementation of Push Small File code.. eheheh.. you can obtain really strage client behaviour ;) ).

The equation chosen for boosting the small files seems also to be a good compromise between decreasing the waiting time for them but not locking out the bigger files at the same time.
If you have different experiences than mine feel free to submit any complain.

/edit: the "bug" with unsharing has probably been found (hey, you are not supposed to unshare.. this may be a feature!!!! :D). I'll have to test it on my server for some time. Next version out this weekend with the improvements required, probably. And the relative super hyper detailed and graphed docs, probably.
Yes, I'm a full of doubts guy :)
Thanks for the feedback.
