There can be two reasons for this. Either you have enabled email notifications in eMule's Settings -> Notifications -> Email Notifications and checked one of these options: 'Download finished' or 'Urgent: Out of discspace, server connection lost'. If this is not the case the advice below for eMule versions prior 0.46a applies to your case.
eMule versions prior to 0.46a
First of all eMule does not send any e-mail and never will for versions prior to 0.46a!
What is the problem?
The problem is ZoneAlarm Firewall. Some users make eMule use other ports than the default ones. If a user makes eMule use a port often used for e-mail traffic (eg. 23) ZoneAlarm thinks that since there is traffic on this port it must be e-mails without the traffic being e-mails.
What shall I do about it?
You have two choices for resolving this problem. Choose the one you prefer:
- Without being afraid of what might happen you can answer yes to ZoneAlarm (remember to also check "Remember this answer the next time I use this program") and you will not loose connection to the users who uses these non default ports.
- You can install another firewall than ZoneAlarm. Many people use Kerio Personal Firewall or Sygate Personal Firewall but try searching the forum for some of the many topics on firewalls.
