ZZ FriendSlots: Enhanced co-release/friends functionality!
All available upload bandwidth is focused on friend slots, if the friends want to download. You will be able to give friend slots to several friends simultaneously. This means you can share your files with your friends and co-releasers efficiently in eMule, instead of using an ftp-server, ICQ, irc-dcc or similar.

Your co-releasers will start sharing the file as soon as they complete the first chunk, instead of having to wait for the entire file to be transfered. If you have several co-releasers to spread the file to, eMule will automatically make sure that the coreleasers will be rotated in the upload slots, giving one chunk to each co-releaser, to make sure the file is available with maximum bandwidth as soon as possible. If your co-releasers also give each other friend slots, the file will spread even faster!

While you are uploading to your co-releasers, other clients will be able to find you as a source, and as soon as the friends are done downloading, the bandwidth will automatically be used by any other clients that want your files.

ZZUL remembers which of your friends that have been given friend slots between restarts.

Please note that uploads to friend slots are not counted as uploads at all, when it comes to ratio calculations. So uploads to friends slots may cause you to get lower download speed. Se the description for ZZ TransferRatioBalance for more info about how the ratio works.

zz you forgot to mention the restrictions that are involved with the use of friend slots.
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Why?

Everybody does not have an advanced router with QoS as I have. My friends can download from me by sftp with guaranteed bandwidth of 5MB/s and when they're not Leeching from me, :P all bandwidth goes to eMule. :+1:

I which more windows firewalls would have support for QoS and Small TCP Packet Promotion.

hmm i really donīt get it right, perhaps. and iīm releasing sometimes myself.
this feature is able to make groups of downloadcommunities if i get it correct.
not getting credits cause they donīt upload to others and no credits by their friends.
but...every non CR system user will treat them as a normal client not knowing that he will rarely get something back, is this correct?
in that case its really a new sort of leeching possible.
i donīt say its done by intention, but as always someone gave the guns out ;)

i would really suggest to use a separate client for such things or ftp etc.

Please remember that your friend upload isn't counted as normal upload. This means your normal upload goes down close to zero if your friend can download that fast. This again means that your own download will sooner or later drop to zero. You need to remember that your allowed download per session is calculated as your normal upload (friends excluded) per session * 3.

My friends client on the other hand doesn't know why I upload that much to him and he gives me credit accordingly so even if he removes me from his friend list, I still get a good download from him (if I have uploaded enough normally, i.e. the friend-excluded upload).

I like this feature and it gives me a way to get a better up:down ratio (just too bad its by dropping the up instead of upping the down) ;-)

why? do you now how many clients have disabled creditsystem or donīt use it?
it doesnīt matter as long not everyone uses this mod with all this features enabled, until then its a way to leech.
i really donīt get why there is so much "ban them crying" about other clients or mods and in this case its tolerated by devs.

This has nothing to do with the credit system!

It's just about the session ratio.

And you can't leech with this feature. if you give all your upload bandwith to friends you aren't allowed to download which means that you can't download from friends too, because they aren't threatened different...

so...

However, if you have uploaded less than that, compared to your downloads, downloads will slow down a little, to reach balance of 1:3.

slow down a little means down to 1kB/s ? really weird interpretion of slow down a little ???

It just enforces the ratio, so what do you want?

It's the same in official. If you reach your downoad cap it doesn't let you download any faster even if possible. In ZZ if you reach 1:3 session ratio it throttles download to keep this ratio.

u won't find anything 'bout zz ratio in official client, simply not implemented yet, but since u're in zz-mod subforum, u might able to find the answer in the stickies.
if u're still not that lucky to find anything, still u can look into zz mod source code, everything lies in it.

@Atlan[GEDC]: it's possible to code eMule so that the current upload limit is always 1/3 of current download, but this wouldn't be leeching after your definition?

I want to say, that you must think about what leeching is and how to define it. I just don't like it when somebody calls someone a leecher just using the definition that fits his needs. It seems to me that your leecher definition is based on live-UL:DL-ratio and I hope you'll see that it's just the wrong one.

You call a client with a "guaranteed" 1:3-ratio non-leecher and a client with 1:3-ratio-limit a leecher, which doesn't seem reasonable to me.

you donīt get my point. imo most of the time the average client has beetween 1:1 or 1:2 ratio over the longrun. feature just encourage everyone to at least get to 1:3 again, cause he thinks he deserves it. small groups or board communities like those features. the looser is the average guy in this szeanario.

like it or not.

Atlan this feature doesn't generate download from nowhere. transferratio is a limit. Meaning that if you can download far faster than upload currently (e.g. you are downloading lots of popular stuff) then you may not download more than 3MB for every MB that you upload. This is an even tighter restriction than in the official client since it applies even for upload speeds beyond 10kB/s (at least in zzul not in Morph unfortunatly). Anyway since your upload speed to friends isn't included in the calculation of the transferratio you will not be able to download very much since almost all of your up speed is going to friends. So since you cannot download much (regardless if remote clients use or don't use the credit system) you cannot possibly leeching can you?

sure i can, at least until the 1:3 ratio is hit again. all it takes is a group, often found in ed2k-boards using this feature to the excess. all of them uplaod each other at least until the 1:3 ratio is hit. in the meantime most others trying to get something of them get...nada correct?

its just so easy with this mod to ensure that my people at last have a good upload dowload ratio.
who cares about the others?
sorry if iīm a bit stubborn on this, but i doubt that > 1:3 is the common ratio today.
