i d/l a movie and it's extension is a normal .mpg Its a svcd but no video player can play it. It says its not a supported format even thought its a mpg. I cant find what codecs are needed because gspot doesnt think it is supported. However i know the movie has data as i can view it in video lan but no sound comes up (none of my movies have sound in vdeo lan).
How do i make my movie play in wmp or something?

Have you tried the sticky in this forum?

I use the k-lite codec pack and never have trouble with playing movies, you could try looking for it on google.

Your file is probably an mpeg2 format. You need an mpeg2 codec or you need to install a program like powerDvd or windvd. (that's the quick fix.)

Go to Microsofts website and download the codec pack for WMP. What version are you using by the way?

wmp 9

it works fine with windvd

i d/l the ELECARD MPEG 2 Video Decoder Package release 2.0 and it can play it on wmp now. However the lip sync is bad but with windvd its good.

Since i have the elecard codec can i converted to svcd compliant by nero and still have good lip sync? or will lip sunc stuff up because of the elecard codec?

When you can play it with windvd, the file will be ok, otherwise it would be async here too.

So you can easily create a SVCD out of the MPEG2, since nero will not reencode the file, it will just create a proper "environment".

And yes, I think this codec is the fault for your async problem, btw never heard of it.
