Crash in Windows XP solved with following information:
Everytime I started emule after a few seconds the computer freezed and there was no way to do nothing for about 3 minutes. While the computer freezed the HD light of the computer remains on but the HD made no noise. If I get into the Task Manager and right-click the emule program for going to its process, it brought me every time to explorer.exe like this was failing and not emule.exe.
After 3 minutes (+/-) everything worked fine again, but only for 20 minutes. After this the freezing time of 3 minutes started again, and so on... I had this problem for a few months and didnīt think about it, but at the end I want a normal download P2P program so this is what I made -->
I disabled the Antivirus software and its realtime protection, I disabled the Firewall (ZoneAlarm), I disabled any other protection program like Ad-Aware, I changed some advanced options of the program I found in this forum but nothing worked and the freezings continued.
After some tests and modifications of the program options finally I tried a simple thing like this:
I have the program installed in C:\ but the temp folder was in another HDD (F:) so that the explorer.exe had to work hard to set all the downloaded data to F:\ in realtime as emule was downloading.
Once I have changed the temp folder back to its original path emule worked fine again and no more freezing of the computer.
So if your computer freezes or crushes and you have the temp folder in another drive than emule, just try to configure the path in the program to the same hard disk as emule is installed on.
Now Iīm downloading normally with antivirus, firewall and Ad-Aware enabled and without any crash or freezing.
In my case itīs a Windows XP SP3 with 2 GB RAM and two SATA Hard Disks.
