Hello to you all and merry christmas!

Here's my problem...

I have downloaded a file, and I erased it a few days after by mistake. I would like to download it again, but it appears in green in the search window and the software won't let me download it again...

How can I "reset" the downloaded file list, so as to be able to download it again???

Is it in an Emule file, or is it stored somewhere on my computer?

Thanks a lot for your answer... ;)

Any file that you have "previously" owned is recorded in emule in your known.met. It keeps a track of all files that have been downloaded completely or shared at any time.

You can use NetMedic, normally available from the help,tools menu and then edit known.met to remove this entry.

Or you can , at your own risk, delete known.met with emule not running and then restart emule. If you do this, you will have to wait, possibly a long time, whilst emule rehashes all your currently shared files. You will loose the stats for those files as well (being requestes, accepted request and amount transferred).

Or finally search for another version of the same file and download that one instead.

or simply just cloes and restart emule or hit the Refresh button in your shared folder button in emule (and start the DL agane)

but you have to rember if you have *not* deleted the file you are trying to download from your incoming folder doing the above and the met medic all what will happen it will be rehashed and put back in your shared list :xlaugh: (i recommend looking in you incoming folder agane )

@jetski

the known.met file does store the information for the files but if the file is no longer there known.met will not stop you from redownloading the file :xmas:

(what you use met medic for thats for recovering files that are in part files as far as i know never had to use it)

@leexgx.

I am sorry, but you are wrong. All files that you have ever shared, or downloaded in full, are stored in known.met. Just deleting the file from shared files and then hitting reload will not allow you to redownload the same file again (I mean one with the same hash).

Known.met must be either edited, and the file details removed, or deleted and then and only then can you redownload the file - Or of course you could install plus mod into a seperate directory and use that to download the file.

Just try your solution and see what happens, it will not allow you to redownload a file with the same hash it will still show in green and tell you that you already have the file.

Anyway, stuff it hope you had a great Christmas day and that the New Year treats you well.

Correct.

But this is wrong. Even if a file is in the known.met, as long as it is not shared, you can redownload the file. Just try it and you will see, leexgx is right.

I will, but the bugger would not let me last time.
And the file was not shared, well bugger me!

I stand corrected and have gone to hang my head in shame, it never used to let me do that.

I apologise without any reservations at all.

Sorry!

YOU HARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. AFTER REMOVE THE FILE FROM THE "SHARED" FILES, I CAN DOWNLOAD THE SAME FILE AGAIN.

Muito obrigado pela informação. Many thanks for your information. :thumbup:

Unless you know that your file has got corrupted there is no sense in downloading the file again. You will get a copy of the file you already have, same copy as you can get copying yhe file in windows.
