Really great idea you got there :+1:

actually, in France we already have a website (a website specialized in P2P news and articles) that does this
and this works very very well !!
over One Million of downloads from the website since the beginning of this "feature"... around 5th of july 2003

if you want to have a look to this huge Free library, this is here :

Ok if that french site also or instead was in english the it would be way more popular.

To bad there isn't a way for websites to just plugin to some translating service like babelfish, oh wait if I remember correctly doesn't babelfish offer such a service?
Ed2k, emule and bittorrent are dying and under attack. Which 3rd generation client and network will you upgrade to?

I was thinking of adding this feature to my homepage...

http://www.mattjunk.com

Would it be possible to share ed2k links between people...if multiple people want to have multiple sites. You know like rar up a database?

Anyways...as always keep up the good work!

It's not quite as simple as raring the database up and passing it along, unless you use the same structure as the content db. If not, a simple script would be able to convert between the two, so you could share links back and forth.

I guess I was thinking something like like just sharing the ed2k links part of it....

Which I guess would involve a little human sorting! :P

One thing I would like to see is description available for items. Right now all that is offered is the name of the file/program when viewing the list At least a short description (stolen from the first part of the long description?) would be useful in helping someone sort through a list of items.

I also can't find any links to a page that will allow me to create a new release. - Compared to Sharelive, they seem to have been all removed. - Please confirm (or tell me why I may not be able to see them)

Thanks

KWP

Give me a little time.. As it is right now, a normal user can't post links to keep from the content page getting spammed.. I'm trying to change something to make this process a little more secure..

Just for my 2 cents, its good to see the birth of a legitimate use for such a good network.
I always thought it would be good as a distribution medium for sourceforge, or somthing like that. Picture the strain on the people trying to release redhat iso's each time they update them, and the strain on every ftp server that carries them.

Its also good to have a place to point people who are afraid of downloading something illegal too :flowers:
blaarrghh!

yep

we also saw that P2P was really important and usefull when 3DMark 2003 Benchmark came out...
all http servers were flood and/or did not have enough disk space and bandwidth to be able to send a such big file (300 MB or so) to thousands of people
... eMule can do it ! ;)
