The RIAA doesn't hack your computer. They scan for any public files you have out in the network.
Yes, the RIAA and MPAA is after people who share their copyright works.
So if you don't share and just download you will be fine.
But keep in mind that if everybody in did that, then the whole network would die off. Nobody can download anything. That is what the RIAA and MPAA wants.
