But even behind a NAT router, all traffic should look like it comes from the real ip not from a router (RFC 1918) ip.
The "be careful" refers to the fact that this list is made for p2p eMule i think. If you apply it to peergaurdian (if it possible) you will notice that
some good websites( google.com?) are filtered because they are not supposed to run eMule.
Ah, OK, I didn't notice that LAN filtering is not enabled in eMule. That's good and makes sense.
Gotchya about the real IP rather than the router. That makes sense, too, and explains why it works at all. I've commented out that line so that I don't see constant filtering of "192.168.1.1" cluttering up the log.
Right, I use it strictly with uTorrent (you just drop it into the directory) and don't have it applied system-wide with something like PeerGuardian. I'm paranoid but not that much.

Can anyone tell me if those news were just rumours or if the DonkeyServers are not trustworthy anymore?
Thanks,
Pitxyoki

PS. it is NOT enought to copy the ipfilter.dat file into eMule/config directory. If one never use it, one have to use the Tools/IP filter to load / add the file to existing IP ban rules
PS2. I would consider adding this:
Quote
222.177.8.75 - 222.177.8.80, 0, Requesting shared files
...into the next revision of IP filter, since this guy is constantly requesting others shared files, causing repeatable refreshes in eMule... Check there: http://forum.emule-p...howtopic=130431
PS3. I do wonder, if some similar procedure should not be done for the Fakes.dat ... anyone know?

For as long, as I blocked out this range:
Quote
222.177.8.0 - 222.177.8.255, 0, Requesting shared files
I stoped having this annoing problem. And I dubt the China users with poor China UL speed are worth the constant scanning if they can see my files...
PS. do anyone know, where to get updated fake files?
