Since development on eMule is pretty much non-existent, what is everyone else using to replace it.
What is the best eMule replacement?

If the development is your only problem, then start developing and use eMule.

@DJX
That depends, I mean if you using Windows platform and want to use ED2K/KAD you have more options. From official vanilla client to its many mods which can accommodate you based on what you need from releasing to leeching. Along side multi network clients which can connect to other networks in addition to ED2K/KAD. But in the end it all comes down to nothing as the simple problem which is caused by eMule itself to bog down the whole network with stupidity with foolish idealism in absent of real core development for past decade which also limited half ass DHT 3G-P2P we call KAD. The vanilla client itself is okay but what we need is more dedicated uploaders with higher bandwidth which would compensate as we seen in smaller networks like Gnutella 1/2. So share much content as you can and allocate all bandwidth when not in usage to us.

@fox88
When someone gives honest feedbacks regarding their usage you don't tell them that as it wouldn't help them or anyone. Thats like saying you went inside of a taxi and you ask the cab driver why he is driving so slow. Meanwhile the road is very narrow and there is also traffic jam along with bad weather. Now based on what you said the taxi driver would reply if you don't like it get out and build your own vehicle and drive it. Did you catch the eMule root of the ed2k/kad's slow down analogy between that?

Please learn to read.
The problem was not slow taxi; the named problem was just an old model. Not even an old car.

I knew that would go over your head as it always does, which is why I said it in that order. So your saying if the model of the vehicle was newer it would solve the problem? So lets just say you own a supercar that can go 300mph now how does that help you if your stuck in traffic jam with low visibility with bad weather? Let me break it down. The vehicle (client), jam (saturate), visibility (source). So tell me when does the limitation of model only comes into play? under which two conditions. Client is one of the five factors which plays role so you can make your own client today Fox it wouldn't change the underline problem. Which is what I was trying to shed light which you refuse to acknowledged after decade still.

Conclusion: you cannot read, and your brain is offline too.
Do not tell me what to think.
Just read what the OP wrote.

LOL that made me laugh. Considering how I had debates with your dad Andu regarding my MENSA2005 158IQ but I can't think. Now did you really think I picked that scenario as analogy out of blue? no dear boy I didn’t as anything I do is calculated and methodical. I did read what OP posted duh hence why I commented on your foolishness. Client is 1 of 5 factors which plays role in this selected given p2p scheme echosystem. Anyways I wasted enough time trying to explain it to someone who is obtuse.

I like the vanilla client, I'm just wondering about alternatives on the Windows platform.
I hear a lot about mods but I don't know which to try.
What is the most popular eMule mod?

There are also other clients like NeoLoader.
What about that?

Believe it or not I was actually going to tell you NeoLoader as it supports ED2K/KAD+Torrent along with LowID2LowID, NAT-T/IPv6. But I didn't want the eMule fanboys here to cry about it as they get upset when you promote something superior than Vanilla client but refuse to acknowledge the underline problem which plague the network for over decade+. I personally do not support Torrent as I always have been pure ED2K/KAD user. I never used eMule or any of its mods since I have always been on *nix and used xMule in the past and now using aMule. The most popular eMule-Mod is Xtreme and it has few variants so look at the features and use it. I personally don't download much as I upload massive amount of contents in our network and as of yesterday STHNSv4 currently has 1local(master) 10remote(slave) nodes online serving around 400-450GB per day.

@xSTHNSx
Thanks, that's the kind of informative answer I was looking for.

If anyone else wants to chime in, I welcome all suggestions.

Thanks.

I wouldn't tell you something I wouldn't use so I tested it myself to see it. I went on David's NeoLoader official site and found he offers it for Windows, Linux, Mac.

Since I'm on Linux but not Debian based distro like Ubuntu which is what NeoLoader was compiled for I had to manually convert the the package from *.deb to *.rpm and port install it.

Oops, apologies for being unclear. I do not currently have NeoLoader. Based on your recommendation, I went to the NeoLoader website, intending to give it a whirl. I was unable to download the installer and received the message "Cannot find server," followed by the URL. I broke up the live link because I am unsure about live links on this forum.

Sadly, I could never get this to run properly.
I tried the "install" as well as "extract."
Each time, it insisted I update and redirected me to a site that was dead.
I checked over at the NeoLoad forum and that was one sleepy site.
As mentioned earlier, aMule works fine for me.
I have HighID and good kad connections.
Now, I'll see what happens when I install a VPN.
There must be a thread on that somewhere.
Thank you again for helping me.
