Hello, please read the documentation, read sticky topics and use the search function.
I will answer your questions anyway.
Fix your servers list; after that, if you will start downloading something by using servers for searches, then Kad should connect.
Options - Server, be sure options number 4,5 and 7 are checked, remove all other checkmarks.
So options that have to be checked are only: "Use smart LowID check on connect", "Safe Connect" and "Use priority system".
In Servers click on a server and use Ctrl and A to select all servers, choose, if possibile, "Remove From Static List", rightclick on a server and choose "Remove All Servers".
In "Update server.met from URL" paste one of the following (or them all if you like, one at a time):
and hit Update.
Rightclick on PeerBooter and choose Priority - Low, repeat for PEERATES.NET, click Disconnect and then Connect.

Did you downloaded or shared something?
Start to download something and Kad will connect, usually it needs some minutes.
Wait at least 10 minutes, then, if it doesn't work, in eMule in the Kad window on the right (not left) corner if you read Cancel click Cancel itself, choose "IP or Address:" and paste:
Then click BootStrap and wait at least 2 minutes.

As you installed and deployed the ~Mule client the server.met and nodes.dat is outdated so you will need to update it. Now Zangune provided you with links for new server.met and address to bootstrap into KAD. But you may want to look below and set this up auto for your friend as you may not be on always.
1) server.met (http://upd.emule-security.org/server.met)
Download this to get all safe ed2k servers and place it inside config folder.
2) nodes.dat (http://upd.emule-security.org/nodes.dat)
Download this to get safe KAD nodes and place it inside config folder.
3) ipfilter.dat (http://upd.emule-security.org/ipfilter.zip)
Download this to block bad IP ranges and make sure you unzip the file and rename content inside to ipfilter.dat and place it inside config folder.
emule-security provides you with all resources need in one unified location so just download them and place it inside ~Mule config folder.
