Hi,

I use since 10 years Emule and changed from Win 7 to Win 10. Now I have the following problem:
2 to 8 minutes after Emule is running as it should it shuts down my Internet connection (! icon in the Taskbar) and Emule does not response. It behaves like a acid that is melted in the system as I can not even exit Emule in the task manager neither I get my I-net connection back. A reboot needs to be done than. I changed the following settings but still does not help at all:

Hard Limit: 100
Max Connection: 100

Max connections per 5 Sec: 3
Half open connections: 3

Any idea why Emule behaves like this and what I can try?

Win 10 - 64 bit

Router: Huawei - HG8245

Big thanks for help!

Hi TSH.
I don't think this topic should stay in bug reports.
Anyway answer to the following questions, till 19th point:

1) Have you downloaded emule 0.50a from sourceforge.net?
2) Operating system used? (example: Windows 7 professional SP1 32bit)
3) Which firewalls/antiviruses/spyware detectors are present/installed on your pc?
4) Are you using peerguardian/peerblock/ip filters or similars? And what of those?
5) Name of your ISP, name of your connection and, possibly, their declared downstream and upstream bandwiths
6) How many PCs, in your home network, are using p2p programs (emule or others) and which ports are they using?
7) Screenshot of your Option -> Connections
(OR: Which ports are you using? Is UPNP enabled? What value are present on download/upload capacity/limit? And so forth)
8) Are you running emule as an administrator? yes/no
9) How many servers do you have into your list (it's inside servers tab under emule lightning)?
10) Where do you get the servers from?
11) Number of downloading files (it's inside transfers tab under emule lightning)?
12) Number of shared files (it's inside shared files tab under emule lightning)?
13) Is Protocol Obfuscation enabled (Options -> Security)?
14) Found sources (Statistics tab -> Transfer -> Downloads -> Session -> Found sources)?
15) On queue (Statistics tab -> Transfer -> Downloads -> Session -> Found sources -> On queue)?
16) Did you modify any values in Options -> Extended? And what?
17) What option is ticked in sharing emule with other computer users (Options -> Extended)?
18) Describe how your devices are arranged.
example:
- telephone jack, adsl filter, adsl cable to ethernet modem, ethernet modem, ethernet cable to router, router, 3 pc (1 wireless, 2 wired with ethernet cables)
19) High ID or Low ID? (servers tab, my info on the right: ed2k network, under your numerical ID - kad network: status and udp status)

If you have low ID, and would try to solve it, answer to the following questions too.

20) (not really a question, say only if you know how to do it)
Make sure you know how to reset (to factory defaults) your device and note down the data for connecting to your ISP.
(in case of troubles, you can reset the router and you'll need those data - vpi - vci - username and password of your connection, and so forth...
those data are personal/private, you_SHOULD_NOT_post_them_here --- ONLY_you_should_know_them).
21) Manufacturer and model of your router
22) Screenshots of your router menus are welcome:
- UPNP settings
- DHCP settings
- lan ip clients settings (or: the place where you have reserved an ip address for your PCs, instead of using a static ip for each PC)
- virtual server/port forwarding or similar
- eventual firewall screen (of your router)
23) Have you put static ip to your pc (into tcp/ip properties of your connection properties)?
Here too, a screenshot would be welcome.
If you have reserved an IP address (from your router settings), it is not necessary to set a static IP to your PC.

1) Where did you download it from?
6) Two emule(s)? They should use different ports.
8) You can also run it without elevation.
9/10) Old and outdated serverlist. Try gruk.org, peerates.net or shortypower.org.
11/14/15) 63 files and 17 found sources = 0.27 sources per file.
Have you searched very rare files or have you chosen the wrong files?
You should check the availability column ( the higher, the better) and not the complete sources column (it must only be different than zero).

1) I started to download all the files with emule I had installed on my old PC with Win 7. Worked without any problems. After I installed Emule on the new PC I copied the file folder in the temporary data under files in the option. I did not add another file to it since I had Emule set up on this PC as it crashed within minutes of using it. I downloaded emule from here:
http://www.emule-pro...l=2&rm=download

6) I used exactly the same ports on the emule on the old PC.

8) How can I try that as I just have 1 Win account on that PC?

9/10) I used the same server on my old PC and never had a problem

11/14/15) I just had Emule running for less as 1 minute when I checked, then I exit Emule and restarted it otherwise the internet connection + Emule would have crashed. Most of the files are popular so but I only have maximum of a few minutes time then Emule messes up my Internet connection so I should have ways more sources if it would run a while!

I will change the port on the other PC I still have Emule running and see if that fixes the problem. I will also try out the new serverlist you gave me.

Big thanks for the help!

Edit

I changed the ports to 4669 / 4669 for UDP and TCP on the other PC. made a port test that was successful, then I shut the PC down. As soon as the PC was off I started Emule on my new PC, deleted the serverlist, added the eMule Security No1 (91.200.42.46:1176)from gruk.org and connected to the server. Emule worked great for about - 10 minutes, then it disconnect my Internet connection on this PC again and Emule did not respond so I had to reboot. In other words no difference as before. At least we know now the error does not come from the second PC with Emule running neither from an old serverlist. Should I reinstall Emule to see if that fixes it? If yes, where shall I download Emule (german version if possible)?

emule0.50a binary/compressed/zipped/portable version (click)

emule has been translated in 40 languages, german is included.

I wanted to say you can run emule as an administrator (through the properties of emule.exe) or you can run it as a "simple" user.
You could get some strange errors if emule is in "c:\program files", while if you put it in another folder it could be less problematic.

I de-installed Emule and then downloaded the zip, unpacked it to my C drive under C:\eMule0.50a and then I lunched it and selected that the Windows Firewall shall not block the ports. By the set up of eMule I inserted my old TCP 4661 and UDP 4671 ports and then made a port test. In the test the TCP port is marked as red - failed. I wonder way this is as I opened this port in the router and used it for many years without any problems. After the set up I installed the serverlist from gruk.org and selected the eMule Security No1 (91.200.42.46:1176) server. I retried over 20 times the port test but it keeps failing. Any reason why this is?

Warnung eMule Security No1 (91.200.42.46:1176) - You have a lowid. Please review your network config and/or your settings.

The ID is low. I have no connection to KAD.

EDIT

I just added a few downloads and after a few minutes I was able to get the ports green and now I have a green connection to the server but only a yellow connection to KAD. Emule is now running since +15 minutes without a crash. What can I do to get a green connection to KAD?

Big thanks for the help!!!!!!

In options connection untick "use upnp..." in both emule and use two different ports for the other emule.
Set upload capacity to 1400 and upload limit 1000 for both emule, max sources 1000, max connections 300.
If you are using only one emule, you can try 2800 and 2000 for the upload.
Download capacity 11000, or lower if you want to see better the download in the graph (in the statistics tab).
No download limit.
Default settings in options extended (for the first two parameters), file buffer size to the max.

Big thanks! i added some new files to the transfer list and then I got both green and both ports opened up green. I had a super download speed and tested it for 1 hour. No crash or Internet connection failed. After all was downloaded I added my PART file folder. after 6 minutes the old problem got back - Internet connection got cut and Emule did not respond. After reboot I created a new PART folder and started to remove file by file over to it and let Emule run for + 20 minutes. if it worked I added a new file to it. After 16 files I found one that causes the error. if I remove it Emule runs for hours. If I add it, the problem comes back. I will also check the other files to see if there are more part files causing the error. Can I fix this part files that causes the error?

I now changed the options as you said but the problem must come from one or more part files.

Could it be some sources of those files are sending you bad data?
Enable the logs in options - extended ("save log to disk" and also the one under verbose, verbose needs to be enabled), and try to run emule only with that file.
Then post the logs here (removing the filename from the logs).

Hmmm that doesn't even make sense since its not anyways related to each other.

What type of system is it? the spec of the machine that client is being hosted on? via wired/wireless? I have also checked the router you posted as its high speed gateway so may not be bandwidth bottleneck issue, but we can rule it out slowly. Can you tell me what exactly happens when client freeze? are you able to use anything on the unit? Or everything hangs? if you can use alternative applications then those can't access the internet? due to controller being unavailable? These issues are not even related.

First find which controller your using and update the current wireless/ethernet driver for the new OS as make sure its supported. As if its faulty it would case system hang due to being overwhelmed which can be triggered by client. I don't think its router issue as im sure while system hangs if you have other systems connected to the gateway those would be operational so you can rule the router out. Now you need to see what triggers the OS to hang as if you suspect its only eMule related then break it down in bandwidth/storage/resource. So for now network disable KAD and just connect via ED2K. For storage see once you download new chunks/parts how it handles it as if it can't then they maybe corrupted then its disk controller issue. Now if storage is fine and data is corrupted then this wouldn't cause system to hang as very little resource is used via ICH/AICH to recover corrupted parts in chunk.

I can see in your verbose log:
27.12.2015 01:57:36: Download session ended: Disconnected: CClientReqSocket::Disconnect(): Close User: 79.201.38.179 'http://emule-project.net' (aMule v2.3.1,Downloading/None/None) in SetDownloadState(). New State: 1, Length: 3:03 Mins, Payload: 34.47 MB, Transferred: 49.46 KB, Req blocks not yet completed: 3.

I'd start to put in the ipfilter all the clients you see that has got BOTH these characteristics:
client name http://emule-project.net
software aMule v2.3.1 (or aMule2.2.6)

Go to emule options, security, click edit (it should open or create the ipfilter.dat), add this line:
79.201.38.179 - 79.201.38.179,0, corrupt data sender http://emule-project.net aMule v2.3.1

Save/close the file, click reload (always in options security).

Let's see if those fake amule clients are causing these disconnection problems.

xilolee are you freaking nuts? thank god we don't have user option from GUI/CLI to ban clients directly or people like you would be banning without a cause in things they don't understand. First of all do you understand what takes place when chunk is requested and then downloaded to disk and verified for corruption? and how its handled? AICH/ICH?

Once the part/chunk (9.28MB) is downloaded its hashed (sha1 verifying hash of string block hash (chunk is divided in 53x parts (52 180KB + 1 140KB))) for it to be known and verified for sharing to match until file is fully completed as original root hash is matched. Now upon result of corruption of chunk the client would redownload the chunk in order of divided parts to get it correctly so whole chunk is avoided for redownloading as it will download 180KB of the part of the chunk and next so forth. Since the block hash are considered reliable the each 180KB part which is corrupted will be hashed in order to compare the resulting hash with the received block hash. So if they are same the part is okay and there is no need to download it again. But if the hash is different the part is corrupted and it will redownload it again. The purpose of it is to make client know if recivoed block hashs are fake or corrupted.

Now show me on the log where it showed this client is sending this user data and as result it was verified corrupted chunk. Let alone over and over as you would see that on the verbose log. Yes i'm aware of fruit basket clients that does send corrupted data but there are other ways to identify them and in this case no signature is matched that we would consider logical, let alone hang cause client/system to hang.

Me, no. And you?
I ban only those clients. I know it should be done directly by emule, but this one is missing.
Re-check the log and you'll see the problem appears after that client appeared.
Or do you have another explanation?

Did you read what I posted? what your suggesting is extreme based on not even circumstantial evidence. Show me on the log break it down... You think this will cause a system to hang? what do you think we run on 128mhz with 2mb flash memory? How did you rule out hardware issue? or not comparable controller?

Can you do that in one minute?

Is this a client I (we/you) shouldn't ban, in your opinion?
It generated a lot of purple error messages like Downloaded part xx is corrupt :( (FileName.avi), in the normal server log.
