Ahhh.... looks like I have to once again maintain my own custom IPFilter.dat for ~Mule community as I once did and hosted decade ago under Bluetack during STHNSv2 era :o

Uptime: 3:44 hours
Filtered: 657
Banned: 9
Active Uploads: 16

Out of 16 active uploads 10 of them are eMule variant VeryCD leecher clients with tag: [CHN]a1[VeryCD]xthame. Which is alarming since if I were to collect stats from all my 3 servers most of them would be that :o how did we come to this... Ironic they also seem to be the only clients from their region who are banned for aggressive behavior.

I'm a chinese and i use scarangel mod. We have a good server called emule lover server and it has noting to do with VeryCD. Few and few people use VeryCD now because there are some advanced leecher developing quickly in china, so the situation is not optimistic. The "damn veryCD" can be a verycd mod. By the way, cn mod is a good mod made by a chinese engineer and might be the first mod of 0.50B

In my experience, anyway, they are also the ones that give a lot. First to chinese fellows, but still... Large leechers community do not survive, by definition.

This is right now as I make this post:

Uploads: 147
Filtered: 6304
Banned: 75

aMule: 14
eMule: 62
VeryCD: 71

Guess who majority of these banned clients are? as most of these '[CHN]a1[VeryCD]xthame' clients are very aggressive. They end up reasking over and over only to get client side ban and if thats not enough they get filtered by firewall which I have already outlined during the first initial post. I honestly don't care since client+iptable takes care of it. But its troubling to see these type of aggressive behaviour only coming from that client and nothing else. I don't download as I only powershare on ED2K but i'm sure when it comes to downloading other regular users would have problem since these type of client usually have very low upstream, but to makes it makes zero to no difference.

Well that's often true. When i got something from verycd users, was mostly in eng and at very low rates (but steady). The client is agressive indeed. I suppose it is ok within its community. It is not the first time that clients creates their own community through popularity.

Far worse than being aggressive is not sending anything back or fake blocks! :-k

Well I see a new trend now as I release content exclusive to eD2K time to time I see increase in file demand out of blues only by [CHN]a1[VeryCD]xthame. Majority of them are from different ranges and has upload so low they can't even effectively share among each other as I'm primary sources. I can release a file 350MB and I would see 25-30GB upload all to clients 100+ clients all [CHN]a1[VeryCD]xthame. So I end up mirroring the files due to higher request/demand. I am sure they just release and published the file on VeryCD official site thus their user seen and requested it via direct eD2K link. I don't know what type of leeching fuckery they trying to operate but they should at least share among each other.

if they do not share among each other would be hilarious. Anyway you could use Ip filtering, ban "china" and that's it.

Well I don't need to tell you what and how much I share on eD2K network as I'm one of the major peers now here who shares and bridge the gap on new release on our network. I use to maintain my own IPFilter back in the days when this network had over 2.2-2.3million users connected at any given time and now we have 250k+ or so. I do have the capabilities to filter out whole region and I do blacklist based on abuse but that would be premature to ban China and it would defeat the purpose as we are file sharing network. This client does share but due to the region being on very low bandwidth tier the upload is not every effective enough to make any impact in source exchange between each other. When I mirror TVShow's on 16nodes majority of requests comes to me as primary source and gets full swarm from me. Mediocre TVUnderground will later try to release same if I don't share they will take hour+ before any user can download it fully where if I release it within 2-3mins full content is shared.

Understood but even if you ban china (I know that is not fair), you can give your data to other users that then will share with the chinese clients (since very few are aware of ipfilter. For example I do not employ them so far). So at least the chinese will get the source as second step and not directly from you.

Anyway it is your decision at the end.

It has another detail that and download sequential!

I really find it useful detail, could use a new ICS, based on sequential download!

Anyway, just as info, I remember that i 2009-2010, If I am not mistaken, leaving an emule 24/7, I was able to see, using kad, round about 500k users online, with peaks of 750k. Rarely having 1million+ of users online.
